Club Sapphire is opening Saturday night. This is the Tapas bar that I've been working at. It's very geared towards wines and all of our well drinks are 2oz pours instead of the 1oz you get everywhere else.
There is even a fun drink called Green fairy lemonade that is made with absinthe- and the only place in Knoxville that even sells it!! Whoot. ( See I was thinking of you guys ahead of time) It's a bit upscale so if you come our wear your fun clothes!! here's the web address:

That's a good idea, Jay. Frost has been really busy with preparations lately though, so she may not log in again before then. If not, we should just head down there & check it out. That green fairy lemonade sounds interesting!

Congrats to Frost on all her hard work & dedication paying off! She's also due to graduate soon, so another reason to go support her efforts.

Frost rawks! :D

Isn't absinthe illegal?

Um,...well there has been a kink...We're not gonna open until Monday because of a paperwork error by the people who do fire inspections. Meh!!
The drink prices are like 6 dollars and up, however all of our well drinks are made with 2oz top shelf liquors instead of the crap everyone else serves.

Yes Jay it will be an AWESOME pre-Temple meeting place when it is open. The owners are from New york...there's never been a place like this in knoxville.

As far as the absinthe goes...it's good if you get the permits. And we have them..YAY!! We serve a lot of imported stuff...but the rest won't be in until later

i'll keep you guys posted

"In the U.S., traditional Absinthe is illegal to sell for human consumption because it contains the chemical thujone which is banned by the FDA for use in foods but allowed in some herbs known to contain thujone (Title 21, Chapter 1, Part 172.510). Some types of absinthe are sold in the U.S. which contain no thujone and other absinthes are imported into the U.S. despite FDA regulations."

So, is this absinthe thujone-less?

Frost, I look forward to trying out the new place. I have always been a big fan of Tapas restaurants, since they usually seem to suit my appetite tastes.

As for the absinthe drinks, I'm sure that they are probably using Absente instead which is a very common substitute for absinthe in the US.

My favorite story between the two was going to a bar in NOLA that served a specialty drink of flaming Absente. The bartender asked a friend of mine if we wanted to try the drink. His comment was merely, "I'll try yours if you'll try mine." He was carrying the real stuff.

Cool.. SD

Thanks for the info jack... It must be the Absente then... Which is still cool. I just thought it was fun that we even have it at all...no one else in this town does..

Holy crap, some of those sound good.

$8 for a 2-oz. Gentleman Jack and Coke sounded like New York pricing to me, but then I did the math and figured out that's around 2 beers worth of alcohol, and two good beers would cost you the same. And Gentleman Jack is a lot better than beer.

Hope the place does well.

Frost, am I wrong in assuming that they have a decent wine list to match the drink specials above? If not, I look forward to checking the place out. It probably won't be until next week sometime.

The wine list is 3 pages long... I don't have time to type it out. I didn't even put all the specialty drinks on that list cuz I got tired of typing... Look forward to seeing you all on Saturday!!
