Just got the word from a friend at AC Entertainment and the ticket office that SOAD will be touring this summer to promote their new album, and K-TOWN's Civic Coliseum made the bill. No set date as of yet, but the ticket price will be $38 general admission.Yay!:boing:

Damn, that metal dildo really hurts.
Reminds me of when Moby played there and the tickets were something like $35 - and about half a dozen UTK deejays were handing out free tickets outside because nobody would buy them.

Knoxville has a recockulous entertainment tax...That's why the tickets are so high...
Do you know who the supporting band(s) will be?...I think I'm actually going to go to this...

Yup... but it seems like this only applies to the large venues. I mean, when good bands play the Pilot Light or Blue Cats (well, when good bands USED TO play at Blue Cats, I should say) the ticket prices were very reasonable.
Is there some kind of loophole the smaller venues use to get around paying the tax?

Ravenheart,
would you keep us posted....?
I'm guessing tour dates would be set in july or later, since they are in Europe now.
RockLine said they are announcing dates just few days before the shows, will we have more notice?
(I don't want to lose my job by running out on a shift with tickets in my hand......Then calling the next day to say my grandma died.

)
I'd love as much of a heads-up as you could provide.
Thanks!

im going because the songs on the new SOAD are what happens when you grow up with punk rock albums and moved on (same damn boat im in) and i think i might be able to hospitilze someone at the show.....

maybe a few. damn some of those riffs on the new one are cool. first SOAD ive really liked since the first one.

I agree with JC one of their best efforts yet. I've been a SOTD fan for awhile but Steal this Album while it had some good songs on it was just filler. Toxicity hmmm was decent. The first CD and the new one are the best in my book.

Me and a couple of friends have decided that not only are we going, We are also going to be quoting Serje Tankian poetry and anti-war sentiments outside of the concert. This is going to be fun.

the tax is geographic. the old city area is not under the entertainment tax umbrella. hence why tickets at blue cats are resonable.
