I knew 'cause I'm a fan of Joy Division and random pop culture facts, but when in doubt-

If it weren't for Joy Division and The Cure, The Crow would have never existed. Ian Curtis was the model for James O Barr's grahic novel character Eric. (And Fun Boy was Iggy Pop)....What a shame. They could still be putting out great music today if Ian hadn't done what he did. So sad...I love Joy Division!

Funny. I was listening to Closer just a few nights ago. Still such a beautiful and amazing album after all this time.

However it should be noted that without Ian commiting suicide (apparently due to depression largely from dealing with his epilipsy) we probably wouldn't have ever gotten New Order. The members of Joy Division went on as New Order following Ians death.
Just a little Music History Trivia....
For those who are Joy Division/ New ORder fans.... go check out I think the movie was "24 Hour Party People". Which was in large part a history of Joy Division/New Order.... but a also a history of the late 70s-90s club scene in europe.
IMHO, a well done movie!

Not blaming them...THANKING them. James O Barr would only listen to those two bands while drawing the masterpiece graphic novel(my favorite comic). He also named each section or chapter after their songs and putting their lyrics into the story. And then in the movie we hear the Cure and NIN doing a JD song.

I was hoping it was MORE about Joy Division,etc, but it was more about the club and record label so I liked it, but it was kinda disapointing.

(For those James O'Barr fans.) He will soon be having a new book out soon called Deady. Along with Clive Barker, Neil Gaiman, and Roman Dirge.

And now back to the topic at hand....

I love 24Hour Party People. We have that DVD.

Good flick, but can you imagine if someone did a film about Wax Trax? You know there was some crazy stuff going in Chicago with Meat Beat Manifesto, Clock DVA, Ministry, KMFDM, TKK, Coitus, Front Line Assembly, Front 242 on the label, the wild parties at the various clubs, followed by the death of Jim Nash in '95.

id watch a movie on just Monistry after alot of what ive read.
