Heh! :D

So, here we are, waiting for armegeddon.... gonna be chaos in the streets! New Orleans will be New Venice after this weekend! Just think of the tourist-possibilities! We'll be the first to cash in, I'll tell you what...
No, but seriously, it's looking kinda viscious, but ALOT of people are still here. We have a safe place, so don't you worry.

We'll let you know how it goes on Monday nite..

Hasta!

good luck. it sounds like it is going to be a pretty shitty huricane. better have one hell of a huricane party.

the thing that really sucks, is that all the oil stuff to the very north with get fucked and then gas prices will go up even more. grrrr.

Sections of I-10E bridge are gone. 80% of NOLA under water, and the water is still rising as the levees are now breached in at least 2 places. Have yet to hear much word on the current condition of the quarter. Though heard word from a customer here at the shop, that it is under at least 3-4 feet of water.
Water STILL RISING!
ALL remaining residents of NOLA are being told to evacuate immediately while there are roads are still accessible. It is expected that flood waters will soon block any remaining evacuation routes....

Lots of pics of the damage available at http://www.nola.com

My thoughts are with all from NOLA, and in particular Hoping and praying for the safety of Vampilot, Elizabetha and my other friends in the area.....

Taken from the GothConvergance LJ:

according to KatrinaCane, and more specifically [info]strangelet,
owners, employees, and friends of Flanagan's and the Whirling Dervish
are holed up in Flanagan's and heavily armed.

i wasn't going to go to Convergence this time around,
but now i ain't missing this one for the world...

i owe a round tab for about 10 people at both Flanagan's
and the Dervish in honor of their ballsy nature. i expect
all of you to remind me of that come Convergence.

From the NolaDarkside LJ 8:16 P.M. :

****ALL RESIDENTS ON THE EAST BANK OF ORLEANS AND JEFFERSON REMAINING IN THE METRO AREA ARE BEING TOLD TO EVACUATE AS EFFORTS TO SANDBAG THE LEVEE BREAK HAVE ENDED. THE PUMPS IN THAT AREA ARE EXPECTED TO FAIL SOON AND 9 FEET OF WATER IS EXPECTED IN THE ENTIRE EAST BANK. WITHIN THE NEXT 12-15 HOURS****

From Kurt: GET THE FUCK OUT RIGHT NOW.

I hope we hear something soon.

I keep finding things in relation. The group holed up at Flanagan's was supposed to be rescued this morning.

I found this in relation to Convergance:
From GothConvergance LJ:

New Orleans and the future...
So... I've only been out of communications for a few days and already I'm starting to hear some rumblings about Convergence.

As I posted on [info]c12_neworleans, which I suggest you all join, CONVERGENCE WILL GO ON AS SCHEDULED.

My home is currently under water. All of my possessions have been destroyed. All I have left to my name right now is basically what I have in my backpack that I'm currently on my way to New Jersey with to set up my company so it can operate again...

The news out of New Orleans looks bad... and it's getting worse... but this speculation about Convergence is not really something we need to be concentrating on. It's too far in the future to speculate and more than that, IT'S NOT HELPING THE SITUATION.

Please, if you want to help, give us your thoughts... donate to the relief effort... and pray to your deity of choice that we don't have to change the theme of Convergence to "Voodoo Atlantis." Currently, all plans are that Convergence 12 will go on as scheduled... whether we need to get another hotel or another venue or whatever... amazing things can happen when people set their minds to it. And trust me, bars will be open.

Current Mood: uncomfortable

Does anyone have any alternate (ie family) contact info for vampilot or liz?

Rather concerned about our friends down there... Would like to know if they are okay and if they need anything that we KGers can help with.

The contact number that I have for them is his work number, since that was always the easiest to get in touch with him and Liz while down there. That's not going to do much good right now.

That's good to hear. I'm not sure if the group that was there consisted of the employees, but I always had a good time there when I was in NOLA: good food, cheap drinks, a crackbox, cool employees, always something good on either the sound system or television and last but not least the home of the funny "suicide burger" incident. Its heartbreaking to know the damage that some of those places down there are going to suffer. Its even more heartbreaking to know that so many people are going to suffer whether it be from losing their own life, losing loved ones, losing property, losing financial income, etc.
