The KG server will be down this evening for some updates - if everything goes ok, it will only take about an hour.

I'll have it back up as quickly as possible.

Just as soon as I can afford the Xserve.

We're running Fedora Core 4 as of today.

The server may be a bit slow for the rest of the night. I'm downloading the updates to the update I installed.

<sigh>

Xserve? okay you've gotta PM or e-mail me details on that.

coredump managed a severe google splash (something about goatse being taken down, and my having mirrored it.. ) on the mac you gave me, and you know the stats on that box. (admittedly, i had it booted without gui at the time, but that might be the only thing that saved the sweet 328 day uptime... right before my power went out. and no, i still don't have a UPS.)

OoO, oddly enough, I have a couple of RHEL3 servers at work attached to XRAID. I was actually extremely surprised at how well Linux recognizes XRAID attached storage.

http://www.apple.com/xserve/

It's actually not as fast as the fastest G5 desktops - but it's a 1U rackmount, which would be convenient.

It is, of course, not to be confused with the Xserve RAID, a 1 to 7 TB Fibre Channel RAID array
