Real life ghost stories????

Post by Misery_Chick »

Since it's Halloween and all, give us your real life ghost stories.

I've lived in 2 haunted houses. The most recent we heard whistling up and down the hallway. This happened alot when I was home alone sewing....the whistling was always in tune to the music I happened to listening too. They seemed to prefer Cheap Trick LOL that was when I heard it the most. I was not the only one who heard it however.

Our dog refused to go into the front living room and there was an odd moisture that collected on the walls and floor of the front bedroom. Anyone that was given this room failed to sleep in it ever. The power would go in just this room, lamps pluged into this room would spark and die.

Several times I went into the kitchen or bathroom, and even though I was home alone ALL the cabinets would be open, when only moments before they were all closed. The heat in the bathroom would turn on by it's self. Hubby was totally unnerved by our bedroom and didn't even really sleep in it the whole time we lived there.

There was much more...so much so I tried to get the house investigated. Those people are crazy though LOL .....pictures of bubbles...geesh.

Most of my experiences are from when I was a kid. (I don't know if it was my over active imagination or not...)

I lived with my dad, stepmom, and brothers on and off...they used to live in this house...that had previously been burned down.

At one time it was a 2 story house, but when they redid it, they made it into a 1 story.

When it burned down, a grandmother, grandfather and grandchild burned down in it.

Noone really wanted to live there, so we got the rent cheap.

We would hear babies crying, and my stepmom would be gone with the kids...

We sometimes saw what looked like an older man walking across our front yard, and dissipating when he got to the field.

We would go in to check on my little brother's crib...and someone would have put blankets over them.

We kept seeing the grandmother go in and out of the babies room, checking on my brothers.

In my parents bedroom, where their closet was, was where the stair case had originally been. The door would constantly open on its own, and you could hear people walking up and down stairs.

I have other stories about other places I've lived in (my parents moved around ALOT) but like I said before, I don't know if these are accurate or not...since I was an over-imaginative kid. Hell, I'm an over-imaginative adult, lol.

I've pretty much lived in just this house for pretty much my whole life, and i haven't had too many paranormal experiences, but there were two that stood out distinctly.

Once, whilst trying to fall asleep, i heard a very distinct voice say, "Ben (my name)." It sounded like it came from the space between my bed and the outside wall, a space about 1 1/2 feet wide. If anyone was there, i would have known it.

The other event that still baffles me was when i was about ten. I still had a bunk bed then, and i always slept on the top bunk. While i was laying in bed, reading a book, a spray of cold mist shot onto my face, kind of like someone sneezed on me or something. The thing is, i was about two feet away form the ceiling with a book above my face. I have no idea where the mist possibly could have come from, but it is still a weird experience, and i hope to god that it was water.
Dude, i've got a full on robot chubby.

Both my paranormal expiriences happend in Tampa.
When i was like 5 we were visiting my grandmas house and I was sleeping in the back room with my parents when I woke up in the middle of the night and saw guys on horses comming through the wall across the room and through the door which was closed. They were kinda in slow motion I could see the color and details vividly. I woke up my mom who was sleeping next to me. She believed me. I was wide awake. Now that I think of it I used to see alot of wierd things when I was a kid. I also found out years later from my grandma that their house was haunted many people have seen a "shadow person" in the house and she also had this haunted picture of a turn of the century girl. but thats another story.

Then when we moved into this house (not far from my g-ma's)
One night when Iwas already asleep my mom was reading in her room when she heard a banging noise in the bathtub like someone was swinging the shower head (those ones with the hose) against the bathtub violently. She went to check and it was still in its holder not dangling or nothing. then another time was was up late and she heard my dresser drawers opening and closing repetedly. she went to check and I was asleep. I swear I didnt do it...

Then a few years later I had a freind over and our AC was broken so the whole house was really hot in the middle of summer in FL. We had turned it on anyway and sat at the end of the hall where the air intake vent was so we could sit against it and feel the air being sucked in (it was really freaking hot lol) We were sitting there and noticed the entrance for the attic. So being curious what was in there we decided to explore. I stood up on a chair and opened the door (it was on the ceiling) It was suprisingly ICE COLD in there. I quickly shut the door and have never tried to go up there again... That was really wierd since the rest of the house was really hot and hot air rises...
A few more years later I woke up really early in the morning before the sun had risen to the sound of what sounded like gravel falling on the roof or in front of my bedroom window. I got up and went into the living room it followed me there and started doing it by the living room window. I stayed in the living room and could hear it on and off going to the diffrent windows. When it came back to the living room I started throwing stuff at the window to make it stop. I woke up my dad with all the racket and the gravel noise stopped.

I have posted this story in the about.com ghost stories because I had read someones else that had the same expierience with the "gravel noise on the roof" so if you have seen this simular story posted yes it is mine.

My brother's house, which used to be my grandparent's house, abounds with paranormal activities. A few examples:

All the kitchen cabinets and drawers will all open at once, by themselves, and then close.

The light in his bedroom (formerly my grandparents' room) will turn on and off by itself.

We hear the sounds of someone working in the basement where my grandfather had his workshop and no one is down there and the doors are locked.

My grandmother was killed in a car accident 20 odd years ago. Shortly after her death, I had gone back to Kingsport to visit the family and ended up going to my grandparents' house by myself after a shopping trip. We had left dirty dishes in the sink, something my grandmother never did. I walked through the living room, headed to the bathroom and passed the door to the kitchen and noticed movement out of the corner of my eye. When I turned, there stood my grandmother at the sink, wearing her black jeans and favorite shirt, washing the dishes we had left. She smiled at me and went back to washing. Since she had not been gone for long, it didn't really hit me that she wasn't supposed to be there until after I had passed the kitchen doorway. When I got back to the kitchen, she was gone, but the dishes were warm, wet and clean!

Another experience: I was smudging my brother's house after his very nasty divorce to rid the place of some lingering bad vibes (sorry, no other way to describe them). When I walked into the kitchen, my grandmother's spirit, essence, whatever you want to call it, passed through me. It was unbelievable! The feeling was nothing but total unconditional love.

Anyway, I could tell more, but we'll save those for later.

You know, that's the only time that happened. I keep hoping she'll move from Kingsport to Knoxville to live with me, but it's never happened. :)

I'm starting to have weird experiences in this house now. I keep having this reoccurring dream? Maybe it's a dream i don't know. But something is on me and I can't breath, it's not really a hand on my neck or something it's my throat closes and i feel someone on me, sometimes holding my arms down. I seem to wake up but maybe I'm dreaming I wake...I'm not sure. I fall right back asleep though and it starts again....each time forcing myself to wake. It only happens when I'm alone in bed.

I honely have heard that very same story before!!! the person that told me that said it kept them from sleeping and after a few restless nights they told someone, after a few more with the same problem he called me and told me to come do something about it.. lol, after going over there and "Setting up shop" we called out what ever rest in that house and it turned out to be someone that was burried underneeth the house. we had to go under the house and remove the courpse and give them a proper barrial, after that tiresome jorney, he finaly slept fine in his bed. needless to say it happend to only him. due to the "elemental" as they called themself was only interested in touching someone that could possably do something about it. sorry for your missfortune, id say call the "GostBusters!!"

So I'm not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer today! Quite frankly, I didn't remember that you said you lived in Florida. Suffering from CRS disease (can't remember shit)!

Good luck!

You found a body under your house and didn't call the police...?
