Harsh Fucking Noise!

TAMPA, FL - Masquerade Ybor. Travis Morgan (NCC Records) and Graham Moore (Blossoming Noise) are Black Meat.

I'm sure that Atlanta was more than happy to loan Tampa Black Meat, as Atlanta finally had a quiet night. Meanwhile, Travis and Graham unleashed an all out noise assault on the appreciative Masquerade audience that was felt for blocks.

Opening with a "toe tapping" favorite, 10 minutes of potato chip munching, Black Meat then got down to business. They molded a wash of screaming and intense, computer-assisted, pedal abused noise into a breathtaking mass of nuclear waste or loud, harsh fucking noise. The kind of noise that Black Meat is famous for. Yeh, the kind of noise that can rupture the colon of a male sheep at 1000 yards. Brutal

I hope the farm animals were left at home for this one.

I do write music. All the time. Why do you think I don't?

I reopened this thread and edited it because we need to discuss music here. however, there is no reason why we can't discuss music without being jerks. Come on guys, lighten up.

Seriously Jack all I get from your posts is Arrogance and Sarcasm. If you were constructive in your posts I would'nt give a damn but you never are. If you have written something post it I want to hear it.

and this is why i try not to comment about music.

people get pissed off.

they take people's opinions - which is all they are, opinions. personal thoughts about something - too seriously. that, or they decide that because they don't like said music, they have to attack someone. and by that i mean the whole grade school, "you're a poo-head" name flinging horse shit. yeah, i'm all in favor of saying "this sucks" if some song sucks. calling the band names, blah blah fucking blah. do they suck?

turn off the goddamn music. break the cd. delete the file. whatever.

and i'm not saying this about anyone here, in the now, in this thread. just in general. people are too fucking bitchy. lighten up. if i don't like your music, i'll say so. consider that constructive criticism - but criticism from one point of view. maybe, from your point of view, i have shitty taste in music. that's called a difference in opinion.

it happens.

a lot.

get over it.

My intention is to be opinionated and amusing with a bent towards playful arrogance and sarcasm, as opposed to hurtful arrogance and sarcasm. If anyone doesn't understand this, I apologize.

I follow the Golden Rule - I only treat others the way I would expect to be treated. I welcome humorous criticism of anything I've done because I am a far worse critic of myself than anyone else could ever be.

i just thought it would be ten times more kool
for you to come outright and say what you have to say
like a person with a spine would

rather than quoting casper van beethoven
who i don't even listen to

so here's my music quote to you

from scraping foetus off the wheel

"SAY WHAT YOU MEAN AND SAY IT MEAN"

Giving negative opinions blatantly is generally frowned upon on this board (not that I agree with this policy). Doing so usually gets the thread locked and/or deleted.

Also, I have no way of knowing if you'll get hurt by me openly giving a negative opinion of your art, so I find it safer to cloak said opinion in something less directly critical.

Not everyone is hardcore enough to want people to tell them why they think their art sucks.

PS - That's my favorite Foetus album.

yeah i just think your comments would have more substance behind them
had you actually seen a black meat show
or even heard a track
or even listen to noise at all

the world of camper van beethoven is a far off planet from what is being created here

where i don't frown on criticizim

i do frown on people flapping their jaws
about things they don't know anything about

Since I did not see Jack's comment, I assume that the discussion is regarding what is music, and is what you, Recluse, do, music. Depends on who you ask I guess ;-)

I applaud you for getting up on stage and doing what you enjoy doing. While I have not seen a show yet, I do plan on making it to one someday. I was hoping to catch the Knox appearence, but was in DC for an extended halloween weekend (woot!)

My understanding is that your Black Meat / Travis Morgan projects deal with noise / sound modualtion. I am imagining something along the lines of Whitehouse or BDN. If that is the case, A LOT of people are going to despise what you create and not even call it music or art, just "noise." You are in a niche genre of music and will only be appreciated by fans of said genre. It is not an insult or a slam against your talent or creativity, it is just the facts.

It would be like me bringing a Chrome album to a party my brother's redneck buddies are having and saying, "Well, what do you think?" The response is not going to be positive.

When I caught Melt Bananna at Pilot Light (couldn't stay for their set - sleepy), the opening act was a frequency "noodler." A crowd of about 200 people stood inside and outside the club laughing and scratching their heads. "What the fuck is this guy doing?" It sounded like he was just fucking around, but what he was doing was agitating the audience and creating a vibe. TG knew this in 1973. Some art is about performence and affecting the audience. It is NOT all about the product itself...

Jesus Oni, get diarrhea of the mouth much? Sorry for babbling on without a subject. Just wanted to say keep doing what you're doing - there are people that appreciate it. And those that don't - well, it really wasn't for them in the first place, was it?

Best Foetus album = NAIL.

I will definitely have to check that out. I'm just now getting into Foetus. I've listened to Gash and Love. Both sound amazing so far.

eh kinda

travis morgan could be a little like bdn

but neither are really like whitehouse

we aren't really doing power electronics

it's kinda like
japanese psyche noise
meets punk rock
meets plunderphonics
meets music concrete
meets cut up
meets american harsh noise

it's a big blender of styles
even in this niche market we're trying to do something a little different
it mostly has to do with the huge differences in influence both memebers have
it goes right down to the gear we use

Welcome to the internet

i don't think that's an acceptable excuse
