however now looking over the website, I have one apprehention to this movie.
from comicon
This is to the whole panel. I was wondering why Alan Moore didn't sign off for the film.

David Lloyd: Alan has his own view of things. I think that Alan would only be happy with a complete book to screen adaptation of V. My attitude is completely different. All I was concerned with, all I expected and desired, really, from the film, was a very good script, and it is a very good script. I'm happy with it, and that trailer looks fantastic, and as far as I'm concerned, it's good.

Loyd was the artist from the graphic novel, for those who don't know.

Okay Warchovski Brothers (Matrix films) are doing this one- good!
Alan Moore did not sign off on script and is nowhere credited - not so good....

The trailer looks to be pretty close to the graphic novel aside from moving the limeline into the present. I may have to go try and find anything Moore has to say on it.

Still excited though!

*edit/add to post*
found the story on Alan Moore's views here
seems he has not been happy about what has been done with his writing in the past (example: Leauge of Extrodinary Gentlemen) along with being screwed by DC on ownerships of his writing and $$$s owed from watchmen (one of Time magazines top 100 novels and the only graphic novel on the list).

He has pretty much demanded that his name not be used or pulled from any of his work he does not have ownership of and is distancing himself from any projects based on those pieces of work.

read the artical!

i love that freak's work, especially this story....but i'm somewhat concerened as well because i don't think anyone has tranlated his work well to the big screen yet(i got up halfway through from hell and was just not impressed w/ league)..

i know this has upset alan in the past,so that's probably why he doesn't want anything to do w/ the script...just my opinion, but i'll still go see it and will maybe be surprised and enjoy it as much as i did w/ the translation of miller's work...

Much as I would love to see it too, I doubt it will ever get made, and even if it was, it would likely suck.
as Stan Lee said about it - How do you get around the blue guy walking about naked through out the entire story?
A movie would almost definately butcher the story.

Ask Rebecca romijn stamos how she did it in the Xmen movies.
because they would do something similiar and it would be deemed a rip off

the watchmen would work for an animated series at best, but it would take an awesome crew.

OMG..I can't fuckin' believe it... Natalie Portman actually ACTED!
I really enjoyed the movie. Every jibe they made at the Bush Administration elicted giggles from the audience...

Note the reference to the Avian flu on one of the newscasts....
(I'm sure Senator Frist did not appreciate that one - as he is always trying to cram the fear of bird flu down eveyone's throat...)

Hell Yeah! Saw the movie a few days ago, wanted to stand up and clap when it was over.

It was like giving a GIGANTIC middle finger to the establishment, esp the Bush dictatorship... I mean administration. :fuckoff: And the visuals were fantastic. Added bonus: we got to see it on the IMAX screen so the explosions really shook the theatre!

Highly recommend you see this while it's in the theatres!

I just had the chance to see this last night and enjoyed it quite a bit.

Its sort of aggrevating to see people assume there's some bush reference, considering this is a film based on a comic/graphic novel that originated in 1982 and 85, long before the bush administration was pissing anyone off. Not that I "care" even if there were intentional jabs, but I really don't think it is. The story is about an authoritarian govt., and reminds me more of something from orwells 1984 or levins "this perfect day" (which also predate bush) rather than our current govt. A few references about "americas war hitting britain" is not enough to make it a complete attack on the bush administration. People interpret the way they want to I guess.

I saw it. I think that it could not have arrived at more of an oppertune time. I was praising the W brothers at the fact that the fight coreograpy (spelling?) was so differant than the Matrix, only to realize that it was directed by someone differant, and that they only produced it.

Yes, I've had a few drinks...please bear with me.
