I don't know how to say this other than just being blunt.
You guys are going to lose Sanctus.
Nothing "official" has been said, but numbers speak louder than words to club owners. There were FIFTY people out last night. FIFTY.
I'm sure that some people don't care if we lose Sanctus or not. That is their right. Fine. To those people that really couldn't give a shit, don't bother posting your "Hoorah's" here. None of this is directed at you. Move on to the next thread.
To those of you that do care if you have Sanctus or not, SHOW IT. Otherwise, Bye Bye Sanctus.
The boys(Jason, Andy, Johnathan) aren't going to beg you to go. They do enough just bringing KG and a club night to you. They probably won't even like me posting this. I don't care. You people need to know what's going on.
So, if you want Sanctus to continue, then GO. Show some fucking support, and keep it going. Go early and leave early if you have to.
If Sanctus is discontinued, it will be no one's fault but your own.

Amen sister!
allow me to add one more thought. If Sanctus goes, the money that pays for this board goes with it.

Ah Miss KaBOO, such elegance, such spirit, such a pottymouth.
And she's RIGHT!!!
If it weren't for Sanctus and KG then I wouldn't be the brash, annoying, goofy, falling-down-drunk, dancing, DJing loon you've all come to know and tolerate(with much alcoholic assistance).
This just isn't their night, it's OUR night. Yeah so its getting cold, yeah so its nearing shoppingmas, but damnit would it kill ya to come out once a month for a few hours to just BS or dance or drink or just watch.
Support the scene.
'Nuff said.

Absolutely! Support the scene, peeps. We've all benefitted from it & we all owe these guys. Get your asses in gear & show a little gratitude! Sanctus is the best damn dance night around & I want it to stay for many more years. Come December 18 & bring friends!
Mama, don't take my Kodachrome away

Sanctus has always been unique. No other club night could replace it. The atmosphere, music and company of people lend to a feeling that is distinctly different from anything else. It would be a shame to lose and I hope this doesn’t happen. First I want to acknowledge the hardcore group of loyal KGers, the faithful, who were there last night and who are there most every Sanctus. We’ve come this far because of you, so thanks. (and by the way, if you didn’t make it out, you missed a great time.) I’m encouraging everyone who can possibly make it to the Dec. 18 Sanctus to represent. There isn’t another time and place where the music and the people make for a truly “goth night out.â€

We dont want to lose Sanctus! Our schedules changed in September, and make it very difficult for us to get out on a Sunday night. But we will be there in December, come hell or high water!

Sunday nights have always just been a bad night for me to try to go out. Gotta be up at 6 in the morning M-F, plus living 30 minutes away just makes it more of a hassle. Maybe if you guys tried a different night and change up the dj's sometimes people would be more apt to come out?
Believe me, I understand the feeling of not being supported by your community.

I have to say I apprecaite all the support that everyone has/is giving to Sanctus, and there in KG. Thrall is correct, Sanctus supports KG. When you go out to Sanctus, you are more than just showing up at a club night, You are helping support this website and this community at large.
If having a place to chat and post here means nothing to you. Don't post and don't support the community. If having a community of like minded individuals means nothing, don't support this community
If you don't like having club nights to go out to and drink, socialise, without having people give you a hard time about being a "freak" or strangers trying to hump your ass on the dancefloor, don't support this community.
I am not one to put it quite so bluntly but maybe it needs to be said - Without KnoxGothic.com and all the time money and work that has gone into it from all of us and all of you, NONE of the events we have be it Sanctus or Temple or what ever special events geared towards our crowd would currently exist. PERIOD!
We all understand everbody can't make it out to all events, or that everyone would even want to. Work, Illness, Cash, or even taste can be contributing factors that are completely excuseable. But if the community here does not support itself, it will go away.
If you enjoy this scene/community, Even if you can't be out at every event, the communnity still needs your support to continue.
Encourage other people to attend the events even if your not going to make it out. Encourage New People who you think might dig the scene to come out! If you know you can't make it out, find a new person to come out to take your place at a night!!!!!!!
With this kind of support we can make this wonderful scene we all love so much grow into something that we can do EVEN more with.
The KG Forum currently has MORE USERS than San Francisco's online forum Yet they have bigger scene than we do... WTF?!?
I see and hear about posts on the web from visters to Knoxville about what excellent nights we have here, often times saying how much better our scene is than their own cities.
Knoxville has the oppertunity to be one of the biggest and best scenes in the entire country! I would love to see a Convergance done RIGHT HERE! I would love to see bands like Skinny Puppy, Covenant, Collide, Bauhaus, Voltaire, VNV Nation *insert you favorite goth/industrial/trip-hop band here* play here. IT COULD ALL HAPPEN! But, it will take all of us constantly supporting and encouraging the scene to make it happen.
Now, ask yourself if more better things for scene is worth just a little of you time and effort, or do you just want it all to go away.
In the end it's in your hands Knoxville..... Support the scene or watch it go away.

Let me start by saying....well where do I start? Last night I had the best time....and I didnt even do anything. I came in with a friend ordered a few beers, and sat my fatttt ass down on the couch. I enjoyed the music, the atmosphere, and the company. If i didnt have one night where I could be myself I would just die. I only talked to three people last night, i guess im what u might call a wall flower. I sure as hell cant dance, so you might ask why do I drive two hours to get to sanctus. I dont know there is just something about it. If It gets lost, a big part of me will die. So I am pleading to our community please support sanctus and KG plz. I hope KG doesnt mind but I swiped a few flyers to see if I can post them down here and get some turn out from my neck of the woods.
Follow up...

Sunday nights are hard - Ro has to be at school by 7:45 am, and Cam leaves right after that to crawl around in caves. Sooo... unless I'm working the door, most times, we've had to miss it.
Some variety in DJs would help - Sanctus is like an old, familiar friend; I'm pretty sure what I'll be getting any time we meet.
Really, though, supporting "the scene" is a good thing: go to Sanctus, shop at Wasted Potential, use our massage therapists and photographers, buy from our own jewelry designers, clothing makers, hairstylists and such and please tip your coffee bitch (me).

I agree with Morgan and JaNell.
It's hard for me to come out on Sunday nights, too.
And as much as I've gotten use to and now kinda like the "goth" scene, I grew up in a much different atmosphere. My (and I'm sure the majority of everyone else) taste are much more broad than what I have heard played at Sanctus. I'm not saying you guys do a bad job cause we all know that's not true at all, but maybe switching up the DJs every once in a while, or having a guest spot, would help a little.

IMO, if yopu go to TEMPLE then your ass better be at Santcus. No fucking excuses.
I was sick as hell yesterday, So I was in bed all fucking day.
HOWEVER...I have been bringing this subject up for the last few months and it keeps getting shurgged off.
If you went to Santcus before TEMPLE...then you have no fucking excuse not to go now. Your job wasn't oh so fucking important then. You asked off for work then...why can't you do it now?
If you are oh to cool for Santcus...then you are oh too cool for the board. Plain and fucking simple.

Here is my deal, I sometimes have to take jobs that take sundays and I havent been to a sanctus in a while. Until last night. I went and danced and got almost all of that frustration for my exsistance out but I couldn't shake this weird feeling that something was wrong. There seemed to be less people than the last time I was out. I had talked to everyone at least once before the first Crow was off. And I got there at the Thrill Kill Kult sceen. Point is that I had no idea this was going on. For numbers to drop that much is just wrong for some reason. I remeber back at the lava there being this little gothling. Short, orange buzz cut, dressed funny, and he found that this guy named Bone was a DJ and that there were a couple others named Arkady and Micheal Xi and they talked a bit and somehow this little gothling con-ed his way into DJing the early set and some of the fetish shows. Entrepising little fuck he was. Fast forward a few years and you have Mercury Griffin. I guess where this is going is these guys have done something cool and built on it until there was something really fucking cool to do. They built a connectivity tool for people to speak as they will and do as they will as long as they didn't try to fuck up anyones day. but in my eyes they have given me a home. God i stop comming out and all you fucks stop comming too. Talk about a trend setter. get the fuck out there. You know you miss it.

when these events become an obligation
and not something you just want to do
then what's the fucking point
i've never been to a sanctus
but i read the playlists every time they get posted
and i have to say that if it were me
i'd also throw some new blood in there
adding a little more progression to the playlist
would help the scene get turned on to newer/better shit
and would probably start attracting some new folks
who weren't coming out because they don't wanna hear the same old stuff every time
also are you guys booking live gothic and industrial acts
doing that on ocassion might help your draw as well

Ok, I agree that people should get out and go, but I don't think the attitude Coor presents towards it is gonna get people to go.
I like Temple better, sorry, though I very very rarely go there either, I've become more and more anti social. I don't like most of the music ever played at Sanctus, it got old months and months ago. Not that I don't like some of what is played, or think the dj's are great, it just needs a new boost of some sorts. I used to go occasionally, when I was in school and didn't have a 9-5 type job. I also haven't enjoyed it nearly as much since it moved to BlueCats...but anyways, if it fails that would be very sad, but, I would be happy to pay or do what I can to keep the forum up...
I don't know what the solution is, but bitching at people to go isn't gonna work so well.

The last few times I was at Sanctus, I felt really out of place and uncomfortable.
Also, there are so many cliques and factions running around...it is dizzying.
I'm not really into what gets played there all the time either.
Yes, people should support the night. I supported it as long as I could.
Maybe things have changed a little...maybe I'll be able to go out to the december sanctus.
I agree with hardcoregirl...it did feel totally different when it was at fairbanks. I would also be willing to contribute to the forum when I could if something were to happen to Sanctus.
Maybe things do need a little shaking up...I'm sure it wouldn't hurt...
I have to disagree with Coor. Temple and Sanctus are two different nights. I prefer Temple the majority of the time. More of what I'm into gets played there. I'm not there for every Temple either. As a matter of fact, I haven't been there a whole lot at all recently, because I feel a bit uncomfortable there too sometimes.
I went to Sanctus before Temple. But, before Temple, I had already begun to stop attending sanctus. Temple has nothing to do with this, in my opinion, and I'm hoping noone starts thinking that way...
I don't feel I'm oh too cool for Sanctus...at times I feel like sanctus is oh too cool for me.
To the Sanctus peeps...what all are you willing to do to get your numbers up?
I'll try to start coming out when I can again...I know how much hard work you've put into the night, and I'd hate to see it go...but things really need a good shaking.
