[12/15/05] - UPDATES: [ DVD | New Album | Underworld ]
Word on the street is that toolarmy members could order the DVD sometime last week and that they're starting to land in mailboxes. If the forums were up, I'm sure we could quickly confirm this, but I'm only hearing whispers here and there. The Collective tends to be good at keeping secrets.
Blair posted some previews of the menu backgrounds on toolband.com. If that sort of thing excites you, go check it out.§
I also got an email from a reader saying that ThePRP.com posted something about the new Tool album being in mix-down.§
The Underworld: Evolution soundtrack listing has been announced. It opens with "The Undertaker (Renholder Mix)" by Puscifer, which seems to be Maynard's musical alter-ego. He updated his website, also.
[12/20/05] - DVDs Released Today
Unless you've been living under a rock for the last few weeks, you know that today is the long-awaited release for the Schism and Parabola DVDs. Run to your nearest store (as long as it's not Wal-Mart) and score your copy!
The big news about this release is the sticker on the wrapper promising a new Tool album in "Spring 2006". Anyone around five years ago probably remembers a similar sticker on Salival, which predated Lateralus by a mere five months. Keep your fingers crossed.
We'll have hi-res scans and/or photos online late tonight, for those of you who can't quite get your hands on a copy.

Speaking of Underworld...I found it amazing that Skinny Puppy did a song for the first film...oh oh...and look who did a song for the second film? None other than Mr. Reznor...god I hate that fucker...
But anyways, new TOOL album...should be pretty cool...They never really seem to disappoint their fans...I'm not really a fan persay, but I'll still listen to it...

Undertow and Opiate are two of my favorite slacker-stoner albums of all time.
They went downhill from there.
But ill buy it the day it comes out because as overplayed as their shit is, its fucking genius till your sick of hearing it.

i like it. has their best song on it (third eye). most of my friends think thats the strongest one as well. i just dont agree.
theyve not done bad yet, its just a matter of opinion as to what the best was.
that cd to me was not as strong as an album on the whole as undertow.
every song on undertow (and opiate for that matter) kicked enough ass to lay out a country.
no filler, just bang. what filler there is? hidden track so you dont have to deal with it.
aenima had so much filler in it and a handful of songs i didnt care at all for. i think the cd got too much credit because of 4 really good songs by mainstream media.
same with lateralus. that album has some awesome music on it, but it drags
alot.
i dont think theyve put out a bad album, i just think they got watered down. they shoulda stayed that "melvins but morebadass" vibe they had.
plus bottom on undertow has a guest spot by Rollins, how am i not gonna love that shit? haha.
i can see why people would side on that. the good songs on it really are THAT good. but it just wasnt something i could listen to cover to cover, thats the mark to me. nothing on undertow REALLY stands out. nothing really sucks either. it was really solid. just a damn good album.

Most of that looks like the profile music for a fifteen year old's myspace.
And the Hand that Feeds is in the trailer, not on the soundtrack.

lol yeah saw that rerun a couple of weeks ago.
and im with JC on the Tool albums.
While there were some great songs on Aenima there was too much filler and Lateralus while it was technically awesome it is just kinda boring.

Have you ever heard the Les Claypool and the Holy Mackerel track Delicate Tendrils with Henry Rollins vocals? It's really good.

"The Hand that Feeds" was on the trailer...at least the one at Pinnacle. It might just have been for a trailer.

Due to contracts for music usage, sometimes not everything that is the movie always makes it to the soundtrack CD.
Sometimes (rarely) a song is only contracted only for trailer usage.
I might add that usually means the movie will suck ass.
Hurm... potential song not in movie in trailer... Sequal to an already not so good original film... Man this one is really starting to smell of rotten fish on a hot day.

Yeah it has always pissed me off that "bela lugosi's dead" didn't make it onto The Hunger soundtrack. That was a key part of the movie.
