One Silver Hand in Hospital

I'm not one to talk about my personal life online however for those who have met or know her:
One Silver Hand here on KG (aka my Mom) has been in the hospital with liver problems following complications during a surgery about a week ago.

Currently she is looking at having to go back under the knife for more surgery on her liver. She is in some pretty serious pain right now and as of this writing we are not sure how sever damage is to her liver. As of right now, she is having good days and bad ones. We are waiting for word from the liver specialist to see when she will be transfered to Denver for further surgery.

Yesterday, she had a IV placed in her left hand (her dominate hand) They placed a mesh fingerless glove over the IV to help keep the IV in place. The RN then said "there now you look like Micheal Jackson". Mom said "hell no, I'm "new Goth"... White fish net for a white goth look".

Anyway to the point, I know many of you got to meet her at the Fashion Sanctus (she showed several of her wearable art fashions in the fashion show which were later on display for a while at Wasted Potential), and some of you have gotten to know her here on the forum. She truely loved coming here to K-town and meeting all of you, as well as the conversations she has had with some of you here on KG. Right now she could REALLY use some cheering up right now. Here's what I'ld like to do that you all can help with:

My sister Robin noticed that the garbage bag attached on the end of her bed table looks the bags that were used when she was in grade school for receiving Valentines in. Robin then took it upon herself to decorate the little garbage bag to look like one of those Valetine bags (to help brighten her room), telling Mom "Now, she can be the first on the hospital floor to get valentines." The hospital took down the x-mas decorations and started to put up the valentines stuff yesterday. In the process one of the nurses already put a piece of valentines candy in her bag while doing decorating. (made mom smile)

Anyway I plan on getting a box of kiddy type valentines cards (if anyone knows where I can find some gothy styled ones PLEASE let me know!) and bring them to Sanctus next sunday for people from KG to sign. I'll then send them to her to put in the bag! Please feel free to bring your own for her too if you perfer.
She made such a big deal over the bag last night that I think it would really make her day to get a bunch of valentines from all of us.

Beyond that any Healing Thoughts and Good Wishes sent her way would greatly appreciated.

For those who want to keep up on her progress I'll keep updates as I get them on my Myspace blog: http://www.myspace.com/djbone13

Thanks all

What a lovely idea for a pick-me-up! I'll keep my eyes open for any goth type Valentine cards. Sending her lots of good energy & get well vibes. I'll save some for you too, Bone. I know how difficult it must be to be in another state when your parent is ill. *hugs to you both*

Mom's recovering from tuesdays surgery to remove a section of her liver.
Talk to her briefly on wednesday, she was still in very rough shape. Wasn't able to reacher her today. But hope to chat tomorrow with her.
BTW - Thanks to everyone for signing Get Well Valentines for her. She should be receiving them Saturday. I'll let you all know her reaction.
She also wanted me to thank all of you for putting her in your prayers and thoughts. She says she's been feeling all the love and good energy, and it's been helpin her.

This last surgery should be the last one and it's just a long path of healing and recovery from here. We are expecting as of the surgery time of hospital time of a week to two weeks before she could be released to go home.

Mom, got the cards today!
Managed to call my sister on her cell as she was giving the cards to mom.
Talk briefly on the phone with mom. She wanted me to thank all of you and to tell you how much it has made her day. Could just about here the tears, as she told me to tell all of you just how wonderful she thought you all are. She couldn't talk long as her throat was a bit dry, and horse. But she told me today has been a rough day, and your cards were just the thing to bring some much need light in her life.

Moms still a long way from recovered, but each day is a day closer.

I want to say thank you one and all again myself. I can't tell you all how much your support for me and my family has meant to me. I couldn't ask for a better bunch of people to call friends.

Damn it, it's surgery AGAIN
Just talked to mom, looks as if she is going into surgery yet again tomorrow. Some of the ducts in her liver still aren't draining properly. So the doctors are again opening her back up to attach the ducts to the drain from her liver to her intestinal track.

The doc is fairly confident that this will finally be the end of the surgeries and problems. (Crossing fingers in hope).

Hopefully this will final hill on the road to recovery, and all will be well after this. Third times a charm....

Please put her in your thoughts prayers tonight that this will hopefully be the last of what is needed to get her to healing and back home soon. Three major surgeries and a month in the hospital is WAY too much for anyone to have to deal with.

Just talked to her, Surgery yesterday went better than expected!!!!
We really won't know much for a couple of days till things have a chance to settle in and they run some more radioactive dye tests to make sure her liver is functioning properly now. Mom however says sheis feeling better, and her spirits are returning for a good recovery.
Keeping those fingers crossed in hopes that it's just recovery time left now.

Thanks you everyone for your thoughts and prayers, Mom says she can feel em and their helping :)
