Hey, I was curious to see if anyone knew of any good local punk shows coming up? If so, when and where? Cover charge, drink prices, etc. I missed out on Dropkick Murphys, so I'm looking for some upcoming shows to attend. Thanx...

punk my whole life.
and knox has alot of mall-punk bands in my opinion.
i highly doubt youve ever been to a real punk show in your life on this criteria

if the cops didnt show, noone left in a strecher, and the audience isnt fighting with the band and your in a club? its probably mallpunk.

or maybe im a purist because the scene i grew up in was fucking awesome.

talk with me in person and ask, private life details are not for forums.

but with all the blood, sweat, beers ive thrown at gutterpunk shows for 3/4 of my life is going to make me immune to most comments anyway.

Errr... sorry... thought I was just asking about city not something else...

i.e.. punk scene in Atlanta or or New York... or what have you...

so let me rephrase... if the punk scene here in Ktown is mostly mall punk... what cities have a good punk scene...?

Hopefully that is a question you can comfortably answer within the confines of this forum...yes...no?

JC, is Johnson City really the stuff of punk legends, lol?

We all know that you used to live there, but I don't know where you "grew up" or anything...

Johnson city has never had a real scene in yearrrrrrrsssss, but its had some awesome bars that never last over the last decade. i think punkrockjoe and his friends were the johnson city scene personally.

no, i went to college in johnson city, i never really hung out there. i actually only lived there in bursts on friends couches when i had nowhere to live and nowhere to go. couch crashing is pretty much the story of most my life.
i didnt grow up in johnson city.

now focus your topics on something thats not JC.

and actually as i recall some of the knoxrejects bands were supposed to be good, but ive never seen them

JC....um...I remember the Mercury. And bands like the Malignmen, The Skuds, and numerous other bands, including Quincy and Yancy's old bands, hanging with JAck Cody, Lurch, (de)Monica, etc. At least, that was my scene. And I saw real blood as well as fake at Gwar. I still have a piece of the Merc wall somewhere...I just miss those times. I remember my friend getting his nose busted at a Skuds show...and as far as mallcore? I'm not into Sum41 or whatever bands are calling themselves punk nowdays. I can't even name any "mallcore" punk of the top of my head, unless we are speaking of the dreaded emo fad...Fallout Boy, Dash-bored cunt-fessional, Hawthorne Hights bullshit? Naw...that'snot what'm looking for...lol. NE way, if you find out about any (good) upcoming shows, lemme know.

hey not bad, but i didnt say shit about you kid. i said the shows here they pass off as punk by and large suck. most of the crap they bill as punk is mallcore or emo. i have banished myself from the pilotlight for a while over that.

i didnt ask for a resume kid, but not bad!

i miss the shit outta the malignmen shows (but i dont the skin heads that came out when they played my hometown, i got a few arrest stories involving that shit) and the skuds caused chaos.

since ya put it like that, soon as i hear something ill let ya know but the word has been dry. just missed one a few weeks ago, same night spanking machine played, one of my alltime favorite horrorpunk bands did a reunion show from what i hear... the ghoultones (grew up around those guys, awesome band) and another badass horrorpunk band, blitzkid played my hometown.
im thinking if that bar is booking shit like that again, and they booked cryptkeeper5 last month too, that im gonna keep an eye on it.
its a 2 hour road trip, but its well worth it.

as far as locally goes, the only good show ive seen here was cutthroat shamrock and speedshifter. speedshifter sound like the ramones and look like used car salesmen but goddamn that shit works. keep an eye out for that. im sure you know whats up with cutthroat, im still lost on what genre youd call that.

upcoming shows ive heard nothing about and i ask constantly.
