An upcoming "old school" style slasher film from newbie director Adam Green. Stars Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger in 'A Nightmare on Elm Street'), Tony Todd ('Candyman') and Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees in 'Friday the 13th 7 through X') who plays the killer, Victor Crowley (not to be confused with Aleister I suppose).

The story takes place in and around New Orleans, where a group of tourists on a haunted swamp tour find themselves stranded in the wilderness, and their evening of fun and spooks turns into a horrific nightmare.
A hideously deformed and undead hatchetface, Victor Crowley, haunts the bogs in search of his next victim.

Although the concept seems to be a sort of FT13th rip, one of the taglines claims "It's not a remake. It's not a sequel. And it's not based on a Japanese one."
Good to see at least someone is trying to breath new life in the slasher genre I suppose.

Hatchet has been selected for the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival and premiers in NYC the end of this month. I guess we'll see if it gets a wide theater release or straight to video from there.
Stay out of the swamp.

Looks decent from the few pics I spotted... i'd allow it airtime on my vcr/dvd player/what the fuck ever.... though I will absolutely not have high expectations for new movies anymore, lol...
