ps2 repair?

ok me and dj fallen have a PS2 that is giving that cannot read disk error
your supposed to clean the heads on it or some shit?
i dunno how to do it, and even though im very technically inclined, i dont want to brick it when i know theres people i can pay that will do it correctly that have done it before.

anyone got any advice other than taking a 200 dollar risk?

don't think i can help, but i've a few questions that might be handy for anyone who can:

a) in what position have you been running the ps2? using a vertical stand, or just horizontal like normal?
b) what model of ps2 is it? it should say on the back somewhere, like SCPH-30001 or something close to that...
c) i know this might sound silly/stupid, but have you tried using a can of compressed air on the thing?

Actually, I once resurected a completely dead ps2 just by taking it apart and carefully cleaning it. Guess those things are dust sensitive.

Actually, I once resurected a completely dead ps2 just by taking it apart and carefully cleaning it. Guess those things are dust sensitive.

yeah, that's why i was asking. mine went down for a while until i went all ninja on its ass. :mrgreen:
