I just heard that Vadim OD'd on Heroin while in Pittsburgh.
I will post if I hear anything from my source regarding Funeral arrangements.
I know he had a bumpy relationship w/ a few people here, but he always struck me as a nice guy who never really assimilated his Slavic background to what is expected in the US.

I was fortunate enough to have Vadim as a neighbor for many years when I lived in the Fort. I always found him to be kind and funny, once you got past the intensity. I am very sad to hear of his passing. I remeber once I asked him what Russia was like, and I will never forget his candid recollection of his boyhood home. Many people over the years doubted that he was really from Russia. At different times, I met his mother and sister. He was indeed from Russia. His frank remembrance of life in Russia really gave me an insight into his character. When his family moved here, it was easier for a ten year old kid to buy heroin than a loaf of bread, yet he still spoke of it fondly. It really put things in perspective. Flawed as he was, Vadim was intelligent, resourceful, and didn't give a shit what anybody thought. For that, I will always respect him. I hope he is at peace. I will miss seeing his painted face in the crowd.

Very Nice! I possibly have a small article that was published in the paper about 5 years ago about him and his music. It would be nice to dig it out, if its still around, scan it and post it.

I can't say I was ever too impressed with him the times I met him, but it is quite sad nonetheless. I hate when anyone's life is cut short in such ways.
I had heard the rumor of him not being truly Russian, and also that he was adopted by the dean of maryville college or something like that....but I never paid them much mind because I didn't really know him enough to care.
I have a friend who was hanging out with him semi recently though...are they having services in the area?

Arrangement info seems to be unobtainable through my source.
If anyone else has info, Please post.
He passed on Saturday, so it may be too late regardless...

people who i know who knew him are not very surprised. In fact, they have all said that they are surprised that he lasted this long, or that he is playing a prank, as evidentially, he has "died" a few times.

Unfortunatley, he really is dead. I got an email from his friend Marianna. She didn't really know how to contact many friends he had. The funeral is going to be Friday at 3pm at Dotson Funeral Home on Wildwood Rd. in Maryville for anyone who might want to go.

The Funeral was quite touching.
His Mother, Sister, a Cousin, his step-Dad, roughly 20 friends under 40 and about 6 folks over 40.
The music was goth and eery, there were quite a few candles along w/ pictures of him from across the years.
He was embalmed in one of his favorite band t-shirts w/ a red cotton long-sleeve collared shirt over it and unbuttoned.
I need to make a couple of corrections to things stated earlier in the thread...
First, he died in Detroit.
He apparently had recently moved there and had lived in the apartment where he died for about 6 weeks.
He had been decorating the apartment shortly before passing.
It was apparently obvious that his death was not intentional.
His fiancee' found him dead on the floor when she came home from work Saturday morning.
Details are unknown, but an autopsy was performed, and the results won't be known for about 5-6 weeks.
We can't assume Heroin.
I've heard about the killer heroin going around up north, but I've also heard that dealers are now lacing cocaine with the same deadly pain-killer.
The Funeral was very Informal, and after his Stepfather gave a touching talk, most of the guests shared stories and memories.
All of it was hard to listen to in light of his premature accidental death, but his Mother's words were by far the most tear-jerking.
Keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

If she doesn't have it already, I'm sure that his Mother would love a photocopy.

Anyone who met Vadim and didn't attend, missed out.
I got some real insight into him through everyone's stories, etc.
I know that there are those who had conflict with him, but after seeing and hearing what I did today, all of that makes more sense now.
He REALLY WAS a GOOD guy.
