Interestingly enough, a new film adaptation of a 2006 Thomas Harris novel of the same name, set for a February '07 U.S. release.
Directed by British director Peter Webber from a screenplay by Harris.
I came across this on IMDB, apparently already filmed and currently in post-production.
Hannibal is played by French actor Gaspard Ulliel.
I'm a big fan of Silence of the Lambs, as well as the rest of the Hannibal Series.
Not sure how I feel about this one yet, guess we shall see...

IMDB wrote:Based on Thomas Harris' upcoming new book of the same name, this prequel shows a teenage Hannibal and Mischa Lecter after their parents are killed in World War II...
Hannibal Lecter in three different phases of his life from childhood in Lithuania to his ten years in England up to his time in Russia before his capture by FBI agent Will Graham in Manhunter.

I don't know, I found the writing in Hannibal pretty awful.
