I hate 80s nights.
But I don't go out anymore so my opinion doesn't matter.

But they make me want to kill.

I'd rather have a red hot poker shoved up my ass than be subjected to 80's music again, but, each to his own. Count me out!

So I guess no more Smiths, Siouxsie, Depeche Mode, Sisters of Mercy, Damned, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Duran Duran, Front 242, New Order, Billy Idol, Ramones, David Bowie, Skinny Puppy, Einsturzende Neubauten, Mission UK, Type O Negative, Wolfsheim, Nine Inch Nails, Foetus, Psychic TV, Ministry, Joy Division, Psyche, KMFDM, Front Line Assembly, Revolting Cocks, Nitzer Ebb, Prince, Switchblade Symphony, Cramps, The Cure, Tori Amos, Concrete Blonde, Nick Cave, Bauhaus, X-Ray Spex, Echo and the Bunnymen, and whatever other bands I can't name off the top of my head that started and/or played through the 80's (in some form or another) :P~

Off the top of my head, the smiths, siouxsie, depeche mode, sisters of mercy, the damned, kmfdm, duran duran, new order, billy idol, ramones, david bowie, skinny puppy, ministry, joy division, prince, the cramps, the cure, concrete blonde, nick cave, bauhaus, echo and the bunnymen, Einstürzende Neubauten, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Nitzer Ebb, Front LIne Assembly, switchblade symphony, all were playing and or began as bands in the 80s.

But they don't play good 80s music at these nights, they play shit like Come On, Eileen, and 99 Luftballoons.

Now that's an 80's night I'd love to be a part of. However, I've NEVER been to an 80's night/retro night remotely similar to that lineup. Its generally a bit more like this one: Men Without Hats, Duran Duran, Prince, B-52s, Shriekback, Billy Idol. Men at Work, Nena...Yeah, that 80's ;-)

I agree with Onibubba, I'd definitely come out for a night like that. Unfortunately, they're not played. It's always the top 40 bubblegum shit that people (me included) think of whenever anyone says 80's music.

So perhaps, if there is an 80's or retro night, you'll spin from your list for us? That would be wonderful!

Yeah if you want 80s bubblegum shite, go to Hannahs in the old city, I think they have their "retro 80s" nights every weekend.

Well for a retro/80's night , I'd throw in some Level 42, Adam Ant, Josie Cotton, Alice In Chains, Stabbing Westward, Leætherstrip, Alice Cooper, Crystal Method, Pet Shop Boys, Montrose, Cranberries, Moby, Sir Mix-A-Lot, and of course... no retro night would be complete without a little Frank Sinatra

99 Luftballons was by a German singer named Nena. Another piece of absolute drivel that was churned out in the 80's.

Utter poppycock and complete drivel, it is. Even the Pleasur Delux Techno mix wasn't even worth a toss.

;)
