"Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin killed...
...by a stingray.
I'm surprised he lasted this long. But a motherfuckin' stingray? For shit sake. I thought for sure he would have gotten an appendage bitten off by a hungry croc or perhaps bitten by a deadly snake with no anti-venom at hand.
Oh well, R.I.P. crazy Aussie animal lover

Death by stingray.....has that ever happened to anyone? At least it was unique....
Well, although they can be deadly, stingrays don't attack aggressively, or even actively defend themselves. Reports indicate the sting was to Steve's chest, which leads me to believe he may have been trying to make sweet love to the animal. And sadly enough, his kids may be better off without a daddy who dangles them in front of hungry crocodiles that he teases as he feeds.

c'mon the doods dead , how rude , saying the worlds better without him ! Just my 2 cents
are you gonna be there when the storm comes?
I remember deep sea fishing alot when I was a kid, and catching Stingrays...They don't have a deadly type of posion, but if stung near the heart, spine or neck it can cause death.
I always thought he would get mauled by a croc that got sick of being around him.

HA HA!
When I heard about this, the first thing I did was log on here to see if it had been posted yet.
Every single time a "celebrity" dies, it gets posted here... regardless of who it is or what relation they may have to the gothic counter-culture.
Jonathan> you should create a complete forum for these posts. I guess "Review" would be a good category...

The firemen came and broke through the chimney top. And me and Mom were expecting them to pull out a dead cat or a bird. And instead they pulled out my father. He was dressed in a Santa Claus suit. He'd been climbing down the chimney... his arms loaded with presents. He was gonna surprise us. He slipped and broke his neck. He died instantly. And that's how I found out there was no Santa Claus.

that guy was fucking crazy. i thought he surely would have gotten
his head bitten off by a crocodile.
it's sad though. he was just passionate about his work and that's what killed him.

I hate that saying: "You can't have your cake and eat it too."
Because what's the point of having cake when you aren't able to savour and enjoy every tastey morsel it has to offer you.....

Outside of being into gothic music or fashion, above all we are all humans and live on the same planet, and know and love or hate the same cultural icons. More than anything gothic, KG is a way for friends to get together and discuss events....and death is one of those events.

people cope with death in any number of ways. for example, if a garbage truck takes you out while you're going after your morning coffee, i'll hop online and post about it. i'll probably even make some psuedo-witty comment about the method of demise being "funny"
i'm fairly certain that would happen to any of us. i definitely hope so, at least; there's precious little to laugh about these days. if i croaked due to a horrible accident involving an 18 wheeler owned by folgers, if some two post comic didn't make a joke on here about "the best part of waking up"
well, dead or not, i'd be seriously pissed off.

I'm shocked about the sting ray. I just heard the spine pierced his heart, thus it was not the mild venom but a hole in the heart that killed him.
I like the guy for his animal education to the pubic, and the services he provided. But his handeling skills of deadly snakes to the public was wrong. I know adults, and kids who have tried to free handle snakes, and who have died by watching his show, and try to do what he did. Having a permit in to handle, and house venimous reptiles you should always use a snake hook to control the head of the snake. I think he set bad standards in tht area.
He will be missed.

I think his greatest contribution was opening up the media to the idea of naturalists that could actually be entertaining, especially for younger viewers. Without him, I doubt Jeff Corwin would be around, and I think that Corwin is great (he's far more educated than Irwin, and infinitely more responsible)
Johnathin> I have no idea what you're talking about.
