don't read this...

The following is far lower than dumpster material......

For the past year or so, i've been adding " 've " to alot of words, such as: "alot've" (which i've used the " 've " in place of "of"), and words like "sort've" ... Apostrophe-v-e means "have" ... definitely not "of" ...

For example, normally I would write: I smoke alot've cigarettes because I got addicted again on a bad day, like a dumbfuck.

It SHOULD be: I smoke alot OF cigarettes because I got addicted again on a bad day, like a dumbfuck.

NOT: I smoke alot HAVE cigarettes...blahfuckinblah....

If you'VE actually read this shit, sorry for wasting your precious time, and for taking up much-needed space on the forum, haha. I feel the need to post this as a correction for my zillions of past grammatical/spelling errors. I usually have a very critical eye about most peoples' spelling, but i've been spelling those words wrong, see the examples, and..... well, you get the picture....

Sincerely,
Little Miss Hypocrite :-x

HAHAHA....... damn.... I know "alot" is supposed to be spelled as "a lot"..... I've always been too lazy to add a space though, unless i'm writing something "important"... Now that you mention it, I have to ask myself, how does adding a space take that much fucking effort??? While i'm at it, I could stop myself from adding "......" instead of "." after every sentence. Looks like a new way of writing is under way. It has to happen. I'm not eeeven gonna say anything else, lol. :-)

if one's going to be a grammar nazi, one should probably keep in mind that there isn't such a thing as a "four-dot ellipsis."

or a "five-dot ellipsis."

or for that matter, a "seven-dot ellipsis."

three dots. that's all, folks.

luckily, i'm not a grammar nazi, i'm a perl whore - so my ellipsis can happily be limited to two dots without indulging in syntactic holocaust.

Heyyyyy... haha... i'm a "hypocritical spelling/grammar nazi"... It's alright if I spell something wrong or incorrectly punctuate, but if anyone else does it, i'm acknowledging every screw-up you bastards make... feel self-conscious! Jk, jk.... :asshole:

*Note* I still unintentionally added an ellipsis after every sentence, but this time, after reading your post, it wasn't the insane "........................." bullshit, as it usually is... I have no clue where I picked that bitch up at... :stare:

While there isn't a "four-dot ellipsis" there is an ellipsis followed by a period, which should be used if the ellipsis is ending the sentence. It looks remarkably like a "four-dot ellipsis" but isn't.

this is true; however, there is supposed to be a space between the period ending the sentence, and the following three periods that create the ellipsis. as such, it would look like this. ...

thus, this has caused a lot of headaches for english writers unfamiliar with HTML, where the default behavior is to ignore spaces unless marked with an " ", or non-breaking space.

The space seems to be disputed, from what I can tell. Some sources indicate that there should be spaces separating all periods ( . . . . ) while some seem to think that the period should be spaced with the ellipsis not spaced ( ... . ). I found at least one source that indicates that an unspaced ellipsis with an unspaced period is appropriate ( .... ).

All sources seemed to indicate that there should be a space preceding the ellipsis.

And BBCode doesn't seem to support the non-breaking space, so my examples may end up being wrapped.
