Heh, those nuts. I use Gentoo as my lifeblood, and those guys would make a kernel for a toaster if it had a processor.

exactly my point.

i'm not going to buy the thing because it will have better games (just imho), though that's an added bonus.

i'm going to buy it because it's the first console to happily allow people to install other OS's on it. making a system hack that allows you to boot your favorite OS is one thing - having the doors thrown open so you can play merry hell is quite another. kind of like cheat codes. :D

i'll wait until it's cheaper, and until they've worked out the typical first and second release bugs, of course. but it shall be mine.

(and ooh, imagine a cluster of the things.)

fuck it. i bought one, downloading ubuntu for it now. :mrgreen:

the cell processor is apparently a heavily modified / upgraded / suped-up version of the PowerPC.

when i finish installing, i'll write up a howto.
