Ladies and gentlmen of the Knoxville Gothic and associated scenes...
I have been informed that there will be a new Renaissance Faire in the area, the immediate area, Oak Ridge in fact! To those of us in the Ren Fair circuit this is wonderous news, and any of you that might know me know I am a Rennie through and through.
There are tennative dates for the last weekend in August, although that will change I am certain as more information is sent to me. The time of year will be hot but there are not other major faires, or any at all I believe for at least 400 miles and this fair will support the March of Dimes so you know it is for a good cause.
Be advised this is the first year of the faire, and first year faires are not as spectacular as those that have exsisted for decades, so please no complaints about the size...please come and show your support for another set of freaks crazies and wierdos who might not be as thumping loud but are certainly as much fun.
I have no idea what admission will be but I promise to have this information posted here soon! And the weapons policy is peace tied, so think of this as a wonderful chance to get all dressed up and have someplace to go...see, be seen, show off your hardware, and lose at least 3 kilos of water weight! and all for a good cause what more could you ask!
More later,
Cheers

March of Crimes does animal testing...so I don't know if I'll support it or not. But, since I live in OR maybe I'll try to break in for free. hehe.

The Faire will be the last three weekends in August. These are the dates. Time...10am to 6pm daily. Period. It will be in OakRidge at Bissell Park. The current website is this:
http://www.geocities.com/renfairoakridge/index.html
This site may change, but as of now with some Tech. problems, this is it. If anyone is interested in being a vendor, WE NEED YOU! We also need random volunteers, I myself will be making costumes for women that would like to volunteer and actually be in costume. The price for these will vary, but I am ONLY charging cost to make them (Most costumes will be about 20-30 dollars). I simply can not afford to pay for all the material needed etc.
You can contanct Jamie (link on the site) or Me through PM or
WebWenchOR@Yahoo.com for information. This is first year, but we are really trying to make this happen, and keep it up for following years. I belive that as of now, admission is going to be $5.00, BUT, that may change due to some other problems we are having. First years...eck...problems galore! Sorry that I didn't get this posted on here sooner, but now you have the info, so come and join us!

Hrm.. I live in Oak Ridge.
I'm familiar with many of the local gamer geeks in the area, and Amtgard plays in the park right up the street on Sundays. (Kids equal cheap labor *grin*)
If you need any help just let me know.

I shall be there, and yes Jamie can use all the help he can get. This is the first year of it and it needs to be as good as it possibly can be. If you want more of these types of things, you need to support this.

I hope to see everyone at least 1 day out of the whole event . I and several others are going to be bringing and making, on site , their wonderful crafts . I am working on various aspects of this Rennie , but I will mostly be focusing on making some very cool pieces of chainmaille armor . I will have pieces there for sale , I can take orders for custom pieces and I will also be demonstrating how to make chainmaille as well. I try to focus on keeping my wears as close to the way they would have made them in period times as possible . we also hope to get a group of belly dancers out there and possibly some drummers as well . All I have time to ramble on about at the moment . More later . Maykyr

We still need people. Lots of people. More importantly, people in garb. If you are already a rennie, or if you have garb and can skate through a conversation in Middle English or even Early Modern English, we could use you. The festival just went admission free due to fence constraints. So now if we want to raise any money for charity, we're going to need more people. Even if you don't have garb, but can get some, or make some, or have some made, that would be great. We'll be having a primer sometime soon (probably either the 12th or the 19th of July) to let everyone who is considering attending know more exactly what we are looking for and needing.

Bellydancers? *sigh* if only I had something to dance in. Oh well. As your next alternative you might try contacting Gypsy Hands(they are not listed but I belive you can get thier number from information) I know that have done plenty of shows in and around Knox-vegas. You can also talk to Debbie Ashton at Well by Nature who also teaches classes and see if any of her students or herself are willing to donate some time. Hope that helps!

I also make candles and various other yummy smelling items which I can pawn off as well. Please feel free contact me. When I actually have a day off this week I shall contact you:)

We are going to have a meeting on Saturday July the 12th for all those interested in helping in some way. Time is not for sure yet, but will most likely be around 4pm and somewhere in the K-town vacinity. Once again, if info is needed, contact me or Mr. LongFingers and we'll get you on the right track.

PRIMER- There will be a primer on the 19th for anyone interested. If you're new to faire, and want to get a glimpse of what it is all about, or how to act, dress, etc. then feel free to attend the primer. It will be in Bissell Park to get everyone familiar with the park layout and location. We will meet at noon at the auditorium stage pavilion thingy near the Library. If there is something going on there, we will be somewhere in sight of the pavilionThe primer on the 12th didn't turn out very well due to the rain, and the fact that computer problems kept me from updating the time and location. The 19th should be a lot of fun though and informative as well. We will have some of the Known World Players there for help with things like costuming and garbing, speech, etiquette and interaction. Even if you're a veteran rennie, please feel free to show up and help those who are new to the renfaire scene to adjust. Or, if you think you might want to attend, but are still unsure, that's another reason we're hosting this primer. Come join us and check it out, get a little glimpse of renfaire before the festival gets here.
As far as I know time is around 3 pm, if sooner or later, I'll let you know.
