Wow, we made CNN.

Don't you love how in Knoxville, every old building that is under any sort of scrutiny by the city or historic groups finds a way to mysteriously burn to the ground?

Is it just me, or does that fire seem more like what you'd expect from the tank farm on Middlebrook than the framing timbers and floors of an old warehouse?

I know there was a furniture refinishing business in there, but that looks like WAY more than a few drums of methylene chloride and polyurethane.

wood eye could eye fan your ember

I heard it was a few 55 gallon drums of varnish etc...

but the real problem is old wood.

I don't think I need to tell you how hard it is to control a raging fire when old wood is involved...

I'm saying from the video it didn't look like old wood - it looked like large volumes of petrochemicals.

Old wood that has had more than its share of shellacking and buffing, stripping and polishing....

I also heard that they used to clean the floors with oil........oil soaked old wood.......phwoosh!

Anyway, I took some pics of the fire....and posted them on my flickr page.
