its sort of a hard question to answer not really knowing you, but i recommend:

classic:
kmfdm
pigface/meg lee chin
my life with the thrill kill kult
mindless self indulgence
sistermachine gun
just about any "90s alternative/grunge" band

new:
audioslave
evenescence
system of a down

thats some of what i listen to. mostly industrial but thats just me.

I'd ignore the Skinny Puppy; it's all "Rargh rargh! Clash bang! I'm so mad! I'm rabid! Don't eat puppies! Smash!"

Really boring.

Ok, it's time for some of my recommendations, most of them from the lighter side of the electronic spectrum:

Freezepop ... http://www.freezepop.net
Ganymede ... http://www.planetganymede.com
NukleoN ... http://www.nukleon.com
Cosmicity ... http://www.cosmicity.com
Empire State Human ... http://www.empirestatehuman.com
Agency-X ... http://www.agency-x.net
Gary Flanagan ... http://www.garyflanagan.ca
Wave in Head ... http://www.waveinhead.de

You can hear all of these at my streaming radio at http://www.synthpop.fm

Also ... pop in http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/9thwavecomp and check out the new Ninthwave "Electricity 2" compilation. 14 excellent bands in the electropop genre, including a new Heaven 17 song! My favorite album of the year, so far.

Lastly ... my own Synthetik FM project ... http://synthetik.synthpop.fm ...

just because im bumping this band into the dirt: the watchers. they are going to be ungodly. trying to avoid "screaming" lyrics.... the best band on earth to sing along with: THE MISFITS....kmfdm, danzig, godflesh, tool, APC, nin, david bowie, gary numan, type o negative, sisters of mercy, stabbing westward (NOTHING OFF THEIR LAST ALBUM. YUCK.)moonspell (esp. the butterfly effect album), samhain, skinny puppy, ministry, pig, front 242, depeche mode, prong, the cure (even though i dont like em, i think im the only one on earth), joy division, johnny cash..
then i could name some more of my favorites but they scream a bit.... like fear factory (aka the best band to workout to on EARTH)
theres a good sampler....

JC definatly hit things that i listen to. here's a few more for people out there:

Diary of Dreams, Bella Morte, HIM, Cruxshadows, Nosferatu, i'm sorry but i like Manson, i know a lot of you all don't, The Cure, Switchblade Symphony, Gary Numan, NIN, Gravity Kills, Professional Murder Music, Bush(only things off of their Deconstructed Album), must also STRONGLY recomend Stabbing Westward and Type O Negative, AFI if your into the punk scene, Ultraspank.

A few albums to check out are:

Vampire the masquarade Soundtrack, The Crow sountrack, Stabbing Westward: Darkest days, WitherBlisterBurn&Peel, Future Wave<-- It's a good cd for the dark wave music.

I listen to a lot of the Dark Wave and Techno along with Ritualist, and just the dark and deep Goth Rock, and yes i drift into Industrial quite frequently.

Damn, ... has no one mentioned Christian Death yet?

That's one of my top 5 favorite bands of all-time and I think certainly qualifies as "classic" Gothic. But uhhhh.... the problem with Christian Death is their later stuff is essentially a completely different band from the early stuff. I don't know how everyone else feels about it, but I would recommend any of the early Christian Death material (which has Rozz Williams as lead singer) and I'm not too crazy about post-Rozz Christian Death.

You might want to check out either of the big two Gothic compilation sets that I know of, The Goth Box and The Black Bible if you can find either of them around these days. Both have a good selection of older and newer Gothic stuff on it, and a lot of stuff that you would otherwise never hear that makes it all worthwhile.

ok i made this post last night and now its gone so i gotta redo it...

black tape for a blue girl, rasputina, genitorturers, machines of loving grace, the damned, the gathering, amorphis (but only their last few albums...um universium and Tuonela), throbbing gristle, lacuna coil, ive some friends that really dig fields of the nephilim but i personally dont, bauhaus is in that boat too.., and i think if you combine all these posts your out of non screaming muisck....

and liberal vampv, yea i dont know how we forgot that either.... christian death is kinda a mainstay....
