It sucks that I didn't get to see ya!
The show was awesome, as usual.
The KG djs really know how to kick it....and Voltaire never disappoints!
My only complaint...were the fucking idiots that kept heckling voltaire. But, I'm convinced you can't go to a show anymore ANYWHERE without running into idiots.
My hubby and I were talking earlier about how we got into Voltaire.
In 1998 we were visiting our local comic shop, picking up our weekly comics...when out of the corner of my eye I spotted a comic with quirky art. I looked at the title, and it read 'Oh My Goth"...I had to have it, lol.
The guy that wrote it and did the art had the best sense of humor I'd ever read.
At the time I was working as a receptionist for Fox, and could sit and surf the internet all day. Anyways, it was either in his comic, or I did a search...somehow I happened upon his site. I learned that he had another comic...Chi-Chian.
The artwork in Chi-Chian was even more amazing.
He also had a CD coming out...The Devil's Bris. I was like...oh, my. This guy is so multi-talented...and HOT.
Soon after that, I learned he was going to be at Dragon Con that year at the Sirius booth. He was the main guest they had that year that I was REALLY looking forward to.
When I first got to Dcon, in the dealers room....I went to the Sirius booth. But he was gone
I bought all of the Chi-Chian's I needed...except one...Issue number 1. They didn't have it.
They told me to come back later and Voltaire would be back to sign stuff. I saw him walk up a couple minutes later, and got him to sign all of my comics.
I told him that it sucked that I was only missing issue number one of Chi-Chian, and I'd been looking for it to no avail. He looked around from side to side, and when he saw noone around, told me to hold on a second.
He reached into his backpack...pulled out a comic, signed it, and handed it to me....he told me...don't tell anyone I did that....it was the issue number one I needed
I was the most elated fan girl ever!
After him being so cool, I would have supported him in whatever he did...even his music. Luckily though, I fell in love with his music too!
Gah, sorry about gushing, and I know I've probably told this story before to some people....
Voltaire really deserves all the success and the fan base he has created. Hell, one of the reasons I love Dragon Con as much as I do...is I get to see Voltaire perform at least 2 or 3 times while I'm there.
Anyone else have any voltaire stories?
