Umm KG's still doing events. They're just not weekly at the moment.

Sadly, I cannot come out this Saturday(I won't be performing with White Lightnin' that night either). However, I hope that those of you who do get to go make it a night to remember, and have a wonderful time.

It's a shame. I really do enjoy that venue. There was a lot of potential there. :-?

Its not the end of the world, but I am sad for Jay and Kasi that they've had so much trouble with the venues.

But knowing Jay he'll work his ass off to try to find one, if not soon...eventually.

And if not, well the door will be opened for something new and fresh or everyone will have to be forced out of their comfort zones and try a new place and be around new people.

When I was at the morrissey show I saw all these people I had stuff in common with and none of them where people I had ever met at temple, sanctus or on KG.

So maybe it will all turn out well in the end...

oh shit, I forgot we are supposed to be all gloom and doom.
Ok, kill yourselves.

Be sure and get there early on Saturday so you can catch White Lightnin's last French Quarter show then be shure to stick around for Temple.

I think it was awesome of the troupe to share the night with Temple even though WLB had already booked the night months in advance.

Doors are at 9pm.

while its sad everything has to come to an end, its not like theres not places to do something.

hell, i'm TOTALLY out of the loop, and i have 3 places that even i could get into right now...i'm sure someone who actually produces succsessfull evenings on a regular basis could come up with more.

of course, theres always the whole "will the joint be around in a month" type of thought floating around, with most of the places, but there again, thats always at least a semi concern.

regardless, i have no doubt that if Jay or anyone else for that matter wants to bad enough a weekly, bi weekly, or monthly event will pop back up sooner than not.

Totally off the subject of Temple...........

i love you but im calling you out.
Name them.
Even in private message if youd like.

Total forfit of bet if you meant booking wrestling or another 80s night, because thats been done to death so bad even its zombie corpse is wearing ear plugs.

Ive been in negotations for months with random bars and with college outta session, everyone wants safe bets unless your established in that bar. And the bar I liked working with the most is closed. Theres bars I could work out of right now, but i honestly dont think people would go there. And im doing other things anyway.
15 events in one calander year kinda burned me out a lil. Not counting DJ gigs and other things. Im waiting till I have more audio and film projects done thru my organization before we go do more. Which is good, they wont book right now anyway without insane stipulations. My heart goes out to people who events on a regular basis. The worry of keeping one is tough on anyone.

However if a good deal was out there, id do it in a second for the love it.

Im sure the other promoters in town would agree with that last statement. The world is bigger than KG and temple. I know quite a few people that do events. Noones really getting a break right now.
And that will change soon.
Thats just knoxville.

of several, The Maxx (i hope its two x's, cus that makes it seem cooler) which has the best oppurtunity and probably the easiest to get into. That could all change in a moments notice, as i understand they're pursuing a closing bar's customers, and once that happens, it will be harder.

see the problem, isn't people wanting safe bets, its people want something that makes money. Now, in some places you can't go in to what they might already have a successfull night, and say "hey stop doing this, i've got something for you" cus that succsessfull night, could make or break them for the month. You just gotta know how to work the owner, and work into the spot.

not saying that i can better than you, but its an art that i've had a great deal of expierience with.

of course, everythings down right now, so to say that you could make a deal in one place, and be boosted out in a month goes without saying.

the thing is, someone such as myself, or bone/arkady or (and most importantly) Jay has one nice bargaining chip when they walk in....proven numbers- shit all Jay has to do, is walk in and be like...uh yeah, fetish night...we drew 600 people...and ANY owner is gonna say...i want that number at my club.

as for running wrestling...ha, i like to make money...and in knoxville its headache after headache, with one certin k-town shithead ripping down posters, and calling in bomb threats and shit like that....all for drawing 100 people cus theres 90000 shows to go to weekly...nah, i think i'd rather watch "Spice World" , cut my cock off with some rusty scissors and possibly use it to gauge my eyes out with afterwords.

the 80s night....eh, i said it then and i'll say it now, i thought it should have been done once a month, but even done here and there now, the reason its dead, is because you hear the same 90 songs everytime, and i don't give a fuck how hot she is, angel is NOT my centerfold anymore.

i do agree, the world IS and HAS to be bigger than kg/temple or anything else. i learned that years ago. the bottom line in promoting is love for what you're doing, cus you have to, to do it...but right beside it is money, cus without money you don't get to do it again.

regardless, anyone will go anywhere if it has the right pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and is promoted right

i'll send you a list of places when i get home from work jc, if you want to get in to them, i can help out with that.

on the flip, cookeville does have a nice 80s night that i'm a small part of now, but its the godamned weirdest 80s night ever. and not weird in a usual way...weird in a ...."i've never even had a nightmare of people dancing to that song" type of weird.

Good post.

I knew your werent deluded or anything, I just wanted to see your rationale. And where who clubs were.
Good rationale. Your always good with that.

And I know how the biz goes, ive been in and out since i was 15. Its been a major chunk of my life.
I agree with most of the statements.
I thought the Maxx was going upscale and sportsbarish?
Just what I heard, i never checked it out.

The list I just mentioned because Im wondering if you know a place we havent talked to for KN's own upcoming events we could move. If i missed a spot, hell yea Ill talk to them too!

As far as getting in with people goes.... I know most of the people around, but im always up for meeting new people. Who knows what good things could come?

btw, the spice world comment made Mt. Dew come out of my nose.

just so you know, i have been in touch with quite a few venues in the area, currently we dont see eye to eye on some things, but that doesnt mean somthing wont work out, it just may take a while, there are many factors to be considered on both sides.

as far as the maxx goes, i have kept in touch with amy over the years and she and i are still very good friends and talk 2-3 times a week, the maxx isnt an option, they are a different kind of place and have 2 very busy weekend nights already, but that doesnt mean that all hope is lost, like i said, we talk a lot.

so im taking a short break, everyone needs a lil time to breath
i need time to recharge
when i am at full power, i can be a hellova thing, so just relax and enjoy the break (apologies to arkady for borrowing his ego there, haha)

well, just remember one thing-

club owners (as much as anyone likes to drag this in and try to make an excuse out of it) don't give a fuck what you wear or what you want to fuck or how....they couldn't care if you come in with a strap on strapped to your head, talking about all the great drugs you just did and the clown from ringling brothers you are going to fuck in their bathroom....as long as you drink an overabundance of alcahol, they're cool with you.

the one thing that "this" crowd does well, is drink.

you don't have problems getting in anywhere.

now of course, someone with wants, desires and expectations like jay, is going to try to score the best deal, because i can clearly see he's intrested in a weekly night regardless of where he goes, that might be a harder deal to broker.

me, i think outside of the box. I make people wonder "that can't possibly work, can it" and then when people hungry for a night where they can go and just cut loose and have fun get their hands on it....of course it works.

JC, the other places i had in mind, one of which i KNOW you know, cus you've already done the deal with my favorite fabulous knoxvillians, that being Fairbanks.

the other place, however "uncool" and "what the fuck are you thinking" it might be, would be the Ballroom at The Palace (former michaels).

me of course, i couldn't run a weekly night...i've seen what it does.

in fact, before temple got started up...i THINK jay had hair. lol

regardless, jay, how you've not went insane doing the same deal every single week for 2 1/2 years, i have no clue....enjoy some time off, homie.
