Can anyone tell me any good, decently priced places they've had a good experience with?

And what places to avoid at all costs? lol

I will always hold a soft spot for Adair Manor. Actually whenever anyone asks for ideal apartments it's my habit to always point them to adair because of how good they've been to me. Nice ladies that work at the office, it's next to a huge and gorgeous cometary, and you're in walking distance of Kroger, Food City, and a few odds and ends shops. When I was their they didn't do apartment inspections and the office ladies made it a point to tell me that they want their renters to feel like it's their home.

Good area to live in, everyone leaves you alone. When i was there the only flashing lights I saw in the complex was Ambulance lights for the retirees.

Their are hoops to jump through to get in though.. For one you have to have some sort of renters history. For another you have to have good credit. For third, for third be sure to be able to prove your place of employment. I found that renting with someone who has all these things makes it a lot easier.

Anyway the important info.

Awww...they don't accept pets though :(

I have 2 fuzzy kitty babies.

I guess I should have mentioned that in my post earlier though!

So far I've had a few friends point me in the direction of:

Country Club

Huntington

and

The Countryside Lane area. (I think countryside lane, I know it's near cedar bluff and executive park drive...CD these friends are friends of yours too!)

I really need something around 600, preferably less...2 bedrooms. I'd love 3 bedrooms, but for my price will prolly have to settle for 2. 1 bathroom to clean is plenty enough for me, lol.

I'm looking around at stuff on the West side of Knox. (Closer to mine, my hubby's and sister in laws workplaces)

I WANT OUT OF OAK RIDGE, LOL! Seriously though, I love Oak Ridge, but we spend so much on gas going to knoxville constantly...it feels like such a waste.

I used to have a two bedroom at Greentree Village. It was $520 a month back then (3 years ago). The two bedroom units are about 1000 sqft with two baths. Oh, and the kicker, they do allow pets (some deposit amount required).

Greentree Village
4831 Summit E, Knoxville, Tennessee 37996
(866) 231-2978

Office hours:
M-F: 09:00 AM - 06:00 PM
Sat: 10:00 AM - 05:00 PM
Sun: Closed.

Greentree Village is a Knoxville, TN apartment complex listing 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units with 1 or 2 baths. Greentree Village also offers floor plans priced from $465 up to $690. These Knoxville, Tennessee apartments feature total living area between 700 and 1200 sq.ft.

Model 1A 1 Bedroom 1 $465 700 $300
Model 2A 2 Bedrooms 2 $565 1000 $300
Model 3A 3 Bedrooms 2 $690 1200 $300

All that being said, I've just read some more recent reviews. Let's just say that aren't very good, but it still might be worth checking out. The reviews make it sound like maintenance has gone to hell in the 3 years since I moved out......

Have you considered buying a house? It might be worth looking into.

Oh, and avoid Brendon Park.

Yeah, buy a house. Suzanne and I pay less for our house than I paid at Greentree.

I really wish we could buy a house.

I just really don't think our credit is good enough :(

Hell, some apartments may turn us down, I don't know...

We do plan on buying eventually, and I HATE the idea of throwing money away on rent.

Guys, I really, REALLY appreciate all of the advice and apartment suggestions....I'm going to check into them...probably tomorrow and Friday. And I'm glad I've been told where the crappy ones are, lol.

PS...you guys that are buying houses....did you have to have excellent credit?

Seems like lots of people with less than perfect credit are getting fucked right now with adjustable rate mortgages and/or subprime mortgages, etc, etc...lots of foreclosures and such. Not that I understand thats shit very well, but apparently its a sort of crisis in the financial world right now...they talk about it on NPR everyday it seems.

I'm not buying a house til I KNOW I can afford to replace a heat pump, a water heater, a roof, etc, if it needs to be done. Its going to be a while before I can do that.

There are lot of first time buyers programs out there and some even feature no money down, which is ideal. I also would suggest buying a house because renting is such a pain in the ass and you're basically wasting your money doing so.

Avoid Sunflower. There was a rash of break ins when I lived there & management never warned anyone.

There's also several new complexes on Sutherland that are income sensitive (you must make at least x, but no more than y) & they're very nice. 1,2, & 3 bedrooms, with a pool & across from West HS. I think Pond Gap would be the elementary school.

Prestwick Ridge & another complex are right off Sutherland, while the third is at the end of Washburn, across from the armory.

Yeah...we've lived in Brendon Park since 2003, and we're getting kinda fed up with it. We've been keeping an eye on this thread. Problem is, the location is perfect for both our jobs.

Anyone know of any good apartments close to 40 between Cedar Bluff and Campbell Station Rd.? Middlebrook area would be okay too, on the west end.

How about Country Club apartments? I was thinking of going there, since I have friends that recently moved there.
