can anyone recommend a text to mp3 program.
I have tried several but either get error messages or a nag screen saying the conversion is only with the paid version.
I want to see how good it works before laying out what in some cases is big money for one of these programs.
Thanks.....goblin

you mean text to speech?
speakonia can export to .wav, which you can
then convert to mp3. i don't know of any (free) windows programs that can do that without some kind of middle step, though.

I mean text to mp3.
Most, if not all, of the programs run the text to wav, the wav file being temp and deleted by the program and then convert it to mp3.
As I said , I have tried several, but had problems with them.
Do a search for text to mp3 and you will see several.
I was hoping that someone had used onethat worked good and could refer me to it.

well, i couldn't find any free ones that didn't require compilation.
if someone else hasn't found one by this weekend i might write one in C# and compile ala Mono for you. they're not that difficult, using m$'s speech api.

I don't mind paying for one if it will work correctly.
I don't think that you would want to try and write one for me as I some very specific things that I would like in it, but who knows?

oh. hah.
no, if i wrote it, it'd be bare bones, pick your damn text file and live with it.
if you were lucky, you'd have a config.ini file to edit, to choose a default location for saving the mp3s. and that's only if i didn't get distracted and run off to another programming project.
but it'd be GPLv3

Thanks anyway.
I'll keep looking and probably find something one of these days.
I have this question posted on other BB's so someone might come up with a recomendation yet.
I do appreciate your interest though.
