After talking with the staff at Urban Bar last night, the word is that the Old City is going to do a special deal for St Patrick's Day. There will be a three dollar cover which will get you into any of the bars (Patrick Sullivans, Hannahs, Urban Bar and Lucilles). I don't know if Tonic and Blue Cats are included in this or not. Lucilles, Urban Bar and Patrick Sullivans are going to have live music. I would assume Hannahs is not, but I don't know that for sure.

That sounds cool. So far, things are good for me coming in late on Thursday morning. I've been looking forward to tying a good Guiness buzz on for a couple of weeks now. I'll probably start at Sullivan's and stumble to the Urban from there - if that's doable.

The ad in Metro Pulse for old city reads: Come early for happy hour (but not times are given). A $3 wristband gets you into Barley's, Blue Cat's, Hannah's, Lucille's, Manhattan's, Patrick Sullivan's, Tonic, and Urban Bar.

I have only been to Blue Cat's and Barley's. I am thinking about starting the night off at Sullivan's since that sounds Irish, or I may call around today to find out what the happy hours are, and may the best Guinness special win.

Well, Urban's Happy Hour is OK...$1 off draft and well from 4-7. They do have $3 Guinness all night though and celtic music. Good place to end up. Barley's has $2 pints from 3-6...We have a winner. This is definately the starting point for me. Good beer and good value is a nice way to start the night early!

I won't be out until after 9 (when I get off work).
I'll likely be at Urban the whole night......

I will be out and about sometime during the night but not quite sure when.

That place is usually cool early in the evenings through the week too. Some coworkers and I will occasionally go there for Happy Hour. They usually always have $2 pints M-F from 3-8 and a dollar off any of the rest of the drinks. I like their food too.

Yeah, what Fallen said....

Don't even bother trying to get into the Old City. It's packed!
Guiness at home is what I'm doing for the rest of the evening......

OK so the night wasnt a complete bust, still did raise a few pints to ole Saint Paddy, but still, in the least crowded bar in the OC, it was still a bitch n a half to get a drink, blasphemy I say, blasphemy indeed...

Getting a beer was truly a pain in the ass, but I still managed to get my share. I got to the Urban at around 11 and immediately hailed a cab - It was scarey in there - Jock-O- Rama :-x No one missed anything there!

Now you know why I was heading out the door so quickly as you came in. I decided that a bottle of wine at home was much more enticing than stomaching the crowd or the waiting over a half an hour for a drink. Sorry to those that I bailed on so early.
