I'm calling bullshit on that. It is just about on any website now days. Not too long ago there was a guy on Fox News who was interviewed for creating a site that specialized in teenagers posting videos of themselves stating their name, then denying the power or existence of God.

You can't even say its anywhere close to the presence that Christianity has in the south. We are in the golden, jewel-encrusted buckle of the bible belt. For every 1 mention of rationalism, you've got 100 mentions of christianity. One fox news report, or a few posts on the sites you frequent does not mean it outweighs the other. If so, I'd like to move to whatever planet you are living on.

Bigun wrote:Also, anyone here who even bothers to mention anything Christian, gets this treatment from the majority of users here. What I find most humorous, is that most of the people do it, claim to be atheist, but only attack anything Christian. Buddhism, Taoism, Wickan, Vampirism, and so on are accepted here, but if if someone mentions anything involving "Jesus", "God", or simple scripture, gets torn limb from proverbial limb.

The reason for that is simple. Christianity is the worst of them all. I think all religions are silly, but christianity and islam seem to be the most over-the-top, irrational, hate and intolerance filled of all. You never see buddhists bothering other people or shoving their beliefs down anyones throat. Taoists aren't outside your local abortion clinic telling the women they are whores and sinners. Wiccans aren't standing by the funerals of fallen soldiers with "god hates fags" signs. Vampires (wtf?) don't damn all those who are gay and want to get married. And as far as I know, all buddhists, taoists, wiccans etc, COMBINED have not caused the senseless deaths and hate crimes that christianity and islam have.

Bigun wrote:I find it extremely hypocritical and somewhat humorous. If your going to slam one religion for existing, do it to them all, or leave threads like this alone if it bothers you.

Really, I find christianity to extremely hypocritical. Jesus taught love and 99.9 percent of christians are hate filled bigots.

Members of the KKK? "good christians"
Those who want to make it illegal for gays to marry and express their love to each other ="good christians"
Those who didn't want our schools desegregated= "good christians"
People who'd rather a child be born into a home that doesn't want them and can't take care of them = "good christians"

All religions are generally silly, but you mention aren't quite religions, buddhism is really more of a philosophy (not talking about tibetan). I think Wicca is ridiculous too, but my wiccan friends I'd take any day over Christians preaching at me. Religion is fine, just leave the rest of us out of it. If someone was posting anti-homosexual, anti-black, anti-mexican, anti-womens choice, etc, etc, I'd react the exact same way. I believe christianity to be a vehicle to hatred and intolerance of others who have every right as humans and americans to pursue their happiness and be left the fuck alone about it.

it does not matter what anyone thinks is the truth.
anyone who says that they KNOW is a liar. It is all hypothetical stuff to make you feel better as sleep at night.

the one thing that does matter is how your belief system affects others. now, out of all the religions I can think of, I have been harassed the most by Christians. Actually, I have only been harassed by Christians. So I can understand the response that is received when it is brought up here. Honestly, like many other members on here, I am tired of the crap I get for not being religious. Not to mention the laws that get passed based on religious views. Come on, its a "free country." I am tired of Anti-porn laws, censorship, anti-aborition, anti-gay, anti-hpv shots, govornment funding to christian churches, religion in science classes, and a whole other list of retarded laws.

Christianity (or any religion) is not the answer to all problems. if you have a problem, fix it, don't just pray for a God to do it for you.

I do not have an issue with 1 random Christian link thread being posted in this forum. I think its sort of sketchy because of the general subject matter here, but whatever, its a free world. Don't like it then don't respond. just don't spam the forum with it.

Now, I am not a Christian.
I simply do not feel like I need to justify my existence. I do not need to justify a reason for being or do I need a crutch to try to make myself a better person. I am quite content with accepting the fact that I exist and I need no further explanation. I simply try to be as good of a person as possible simply because that is the best thing that anyone can do for themselves no matter what their view is. If there is a God, then great, I think he/she/it should appreciate the fact that I want to be a good person just because without any alternative motives or brainwashing. If that is not good enough, then I would not want to worship that deity anyway.

It is also one thing to post messages about love or what have you...but this shit: http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/salvation_webpages/04-penalty_of_hell.htm

Yeah.
Fuck that.
People spreading bullshit through their methods of inducing fear...I'm over it, they should not be just smiled at and ignored. What they are doing is wrong.

that is pretty f-ed up and i said nothing about smiling.

but you and i both know that there would be no arguing with that guy (like most christians). it is blind faith and he is obvisouly deeply rooted in it.

Bwhahahaaa! I live in Cleveland.... I *AM* the belt-buckle of the bible belt. I can throw a rock and hit the Church of God head-quarters from my doorstep.

And just because there are people that claim the belief and do bad things doesn't mean it is an endorsement straight from God. It would be gullible to believe so.

What!??! What bible have you been reading?!?

Jesus did teach love, but did you only read the new testament and assume that Christians should be a bunch of fun loving hippies?!

The old testament is the bible too, and I want to point out one verse:

Code: Select all

Psalms 144:1
Blessed be the LORD my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight

That is my favorite verse in the bible, it dismisses a lot of predetermined thinking behind Christianity. I've lost count of how many times God himself has asked his own people to destroy towns and the people in them in the old testament. God himself destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah with fire and brimstone. What in the hell made you think that we should be all about peace?

As I said before, even serial killers can claim any religion they choose, even Christianity. Most of these people play judge and executioner, which the bible states that none of us are.

That is not an excuse to be a hate filled bigot. And the Old Testament is the old one for a reason. It is technically no longer applicable. (btw, I was raised in an Old Testament church)

Yes, you are right; it should be enforced in reverse. And I would be willing to bet, that statistically, it usually is in comparison to how often Christianity is pushed. However, there are exceptions on both sides.

But I will admit that there is a possibility that this statistic might have a positive correlation to the fact that there are many more Christians than any other religion in this area. (or hell, this country) However, I think that this is far from being the only factor. From my experience, converts from Christianity have typically thought about it more and have a more logical and thought-out explanation of their personal beliefs and are a bit more understanding to other religions in comparison to Christians which usually respond solely with a strong emotional reaction but with no further support.

as i thouched on earlier, i have seen the "i know that this is right so you should think it as well" mentality most often in christians.

but do not get me wrong, some of the greatest people that i know are christians, and i am not lumping you guys together, as I know that there are exceptions.

That is a debate for another time with another discussion. Sounds like one that could be interesting.

I'll even admit that, I wish they would realize that the being they claim to worship does not condone such behavior.

You've done well to reinforce my opinions of Christians.

I am happy for the girl if she is happy (no matter how delusional it may be), BUT I don't want to be preached at. This website is for people of somewhat like minds and lifestyles. I have been on here for what, 5 or 6 years (the date in my profile isn't correct, we all had to rejoin and start over again) and I know that the majority of my friends on here are like minded towards christianity and I know that they will enjoy the things I post. Thats why I share. I don't go to predominately christian websites and post shit about my beliefs. Its rude and asking for "christian text barbarians" as recluse stated.

Go to a christian goth website, or any christian forums and talk about it all you want to. Have a bible club, I don't care. Care factor: 0. I am on this forum because I have more in common with the people that started it than the First Self-Righteous Church and I feel safe in expressing myself without being told I'm going to burn in the hell. I don't want to hear it.

And yes I'm probably being more intolerant than I should be, but thats the way I feel after years of persecution and being called a selfish heathen. It gets fucking old.

probably would be, but you will have to give me an opportunity to dig through old notes. It has been a long time.

The church I was in was actually Old Testament and then converted to New Testament along the way, so I have plenty of material somewhere to cover this.

I will admit that I do miss the Feast of Tabernacles. That was like Christmas x 7. (although, I didn't celebrate Christmas for the first time until I was 17)

I am laughing right now at what recluse said and now I'm wondering wft that sentence means.

I think you had the same reaction a lot of us did JC, with the "what-the-fuck" post.

Anyways...I love debating and arguing. Its a good way to entertain myself while bored at work or at home. I'd take a thread where people may have to think over mindless chatter anyday.

Perhaps someone just needs to make the spiritual version of the :iblislink: . Make it a Warning, Jesus/Muhammad/Buddha/Hindu/Wicca Link!! That way if you don't want to be exposed to it, you can deftly NOT CLICK ON THE LINK. Strangely enough I thought the "Cool stuff about Jesus" title of the thread was a big head's up.

I SERIOUSLY thought it was a joke, and as I looked through those pages and got more angry, I realized I wasn't gonna be finding a punch line.

Using that logic, I suppose people can just spam us about any old thing...just don't click the link that says "huge penis brittany spears viagra blah blah blah." I will start posting any random thing about anything, whether its related to anyone here or not.

Yeah I don't think that'd go over too well.
