Stolen from the t5c board...
Rasputina will be playing at Stella Blue (which is I believe, a few doors down from Shotzy's a.k.a. T5C) in Asheville on April 14th. With Murder by Death and Reductio Ad Absurdum. Doors open at 9:30pm, tix are $10...

Well, the concert last night was fun. Asheville is a much larger city than I had expected. All the locals were really nice and polite, smiling and greeting us.
I was a bit disappointed with Rasputina's set as it was only two of the lady's on Cello and their Bearded drummer. Few people seemed to notice or care that they had distorted electric guitar playing with the music, but there was no guitarist on the stage. I felt deceived by this, lied to. It's a bit like lip-syncing, you know. I think it's kind of rude, they should have just left the guitar parts out if they don't have a guitarist to play them. That would have made me feel better than the pre-recorded guitar bits spliced in. That, and I remember there being 3 girls with cellos in the band...
The second opening act, Murder by Death was ok. Their instrumental songs were good. I was not impressed by the vocalist's singing voice at all. It wasn't necessarily whiney, but just bland. They are better off without it.
The first band who played was a local band called Reductio Ad Absurdum, who absolutely blew me away. Sort of a Skinny Puppy meets Mr. Bungle. Great stuff, three guys, two of which were constantly changing out instruments from song to song. Guitar, synth, saxophone, flute, Theremin, and even a moog thrown in! All this WITH a live drummer! No vocals, but samples in place to suffice. I was mondo impressed. these guys were sooo awesome. I loved it. They will be playing the Pilot Light on Friday, April 29th, and I would HIGHLY recommend that show to anyone who can make it. I would really like to go, have to work, but may get the last couple hours off next Friday to see them again, cause yeah, they really were that good.
All in all a good time was had. We ran into Trance (Chris) and Jinx, hung with them most of the night. They were the only other Knoxvillians there... The show went on until about 2:30. Clara and I got back and crashed around 5am. We were both pretty damn tired on the way back, but we made it in one piece.
