Andersonville Trial

Post by kissmeblack »

For those of you interested in theatre, some members of our company (Wild Thyme) are doing a production of ANDERSONVILLE TRIAL next weekend and I wanted to help promote the show. It's going to be amazing.

"Enright Productions Announces a Dramatic Fundraiser for Charities.

Knoxville, Tennessee, July 6-9 For the fifth year in a row, Enright Productions (formerly Longstreet Productions) will gather professional and budding theatrical talents to the stage as a benefit Knoxville-area community resources.

The Bishop Center Theater on the campus of Webb school will play host to Saul Levitts moving and powerful play, THE ANDERSONVILLE TRIAL. This is Enrights fifth annual production, and one hundred percent of the proceeds will go to benefit the Knoxville Second Harvest Food Bank and WUOT, 91.9 FM, public radio. Levitts play re-imagines one of the most controversial American trials of the 19th century, the trial of Henry Wirz. Wirz had been the warden of the Confederacys P.O.W. camp in Andersonville, Georgia. 13, 000 prisoners died under its unusually brutal conditions, and Wirz was the only man to be tried and executed for war crimes following the Civil War. With war crimes and prisoner brutality still at the top of the headlines, the play remains disturbingly timely, raising hard questions and giving no easy answers. A post-modern twist in the staging provides new casting opportunities and a new resonance for the story.

Since 2002, Enright Productions has provided quality, innovative, and challenging theatrical productions with professional acting and directing mixed with opportunities for community theatre favorites, newcomers, and students. THE ANDERSONVILLE TRIAL stars Tennessee Stage Company veteran, Brian Bonner, who returns to Enright after starring in their first play, THE SANTALAND DIARIES. Hell be joined by local favorites, Wanda Huttner and Ed White, along with other familiar faces and strong, new talent.

Benefiting local non-profit organizations has always been a goal of the company since its inception, and Enright Productions is proud to be including Second Harvest to the list of local organizations helped by their efforts.

Previous Enright productions have included THE SANTALAND DIARIES, WILDE WEST, SOMEONE WHOLL WATCH OVER ME, and TURN OF THE SCREW.

THE ANDERSONVILLE TRIAL opens on July 6 at the Bishop Center Theater on the Webb School of Knoxville campus. It plays at 8pm on Thursday the 6th, Friday the 7th, and Saturday the 8th, with a final, 2:00pm matinee on Sunday the 9th. Tickets are $10 at the door, and all proceeds go to Second Harvest and WUOT. Please call 212 5577 for reservations, or contact Enright by e-mail at enrightproductions@gmail.com."
