Kingsport area

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Kingsport area

Having to go up there for something here soon. What's good to do up there? Never been there myself, and looking for places and things.

Any suggestions?

not much in kingsport except bay's mountain, if you're into nature.

johnson city is 15 minutes away with a good nightlife and music scene.

if you're into microbrew, check out the sophisticated otter.
and the last I heard, there was a small weekly goth night happening at downtown rafters.

I did grow up in Kingsport and there is nothing to do there. Johnson City does have some nightlife, but not to my tastes. necrosynthesis suggested Bays Mountain if you're into nature. It is pretty good and they do have wildlife (deer, wolves, otters) and a planetarium. Good way to waste an afternoon.

Biker bars abound as do country places.

Sorry, but the Tri-Cities is a black hole for suitable entertainment.

i grew up near bays mtn.,like someone said it's a very cool place to spend an afternoon...

hideaway is a good place to see a show...they get some pretty cool shows there...i plan on seeing unknown hinson there next week...

the otter(can't remember the new name) now is run by a friend of mine...the food is a lot better...poor richards (j.c.)has good sandwiches, but i'd check out smaller restraunts like nick's or lynn garden restraunt....i'd suggest the mountaineer, but i haven't been there in a while...

the highway is a killer shop for your....errrr...t-shirt needs...one of the guys who owns it drew a few album covers for saint vitus....very cool freaks...

too bad the backdoor shop is no more, but the cat's in j.c. has some cool people who work there and they keep it well stocked...

i can honestly say that after walking in to the downtown pub,the "sports" bar, ralph's,and yes...once..."hog wild"...or hanging out near boozy creek,i can say i've never been scared to walk into anywhere else,anytime...

other than that all i can tell you is it's a great place for a kid build up their imagination...or ride backwood's roads all day ;-)

Is Dad's cd's still in business? I heard there's a new underground cd shop as well. Any word on that?
