Comcast set to launch Fearnet

Post by Zeo »

There's not really too much info other than what is in the article. There also seems to be minimal advertisement or hype behind this venture.
Basically the deal is Sony/MGM and Comcast cable are launching an all horror on-demand channel on Comcast, as well as a website http://Fearnet.com at the end of this month (Halloween).

The on-demand channel will boast over 1,000 horror films from Lionsgate, (most of which suck) but will also offer older films from the now Sony owned MGM library, which is uber fucking awesome.

Seeing as how Monsters HD is only on Dish Network, and The Horror Channel is all but a ditched effort after the Dread Central fallout, this is great news. Especially since we have Comcast, which is easily available in most parts of Knoxpatch. It's been a long time coming for something like this.

Now if I could only get my Night Gallery and Dark Shadows fix on demand I would be goddamn ecstatic.

Buy em. Cheaper than a month of cable. OK, maybe not the Dark Shadows (Christ - how many epesodes did that thing run?), but The Night Gallery collection is a must buy. Season 1 is out for about 40.00. No word on Season 2 yet (my favorite), not really interested in Season 3.

Soap opera, actually.
If she were a street gang, I'd go to war with her with bottles and chains.

My boyfriend works for comcast...so we get it for free (or 5 bucks I can't remember)...so, if you and Russo wanna come over and watch, you are welcome anytime...( if you don't have On Demand which is the new crack I swear, I never leave the house)

Thanks for the invite. :) We have digital cable through Comcast and a home theatre system, 52' HDTV and all. Needless to say I don't leave the house much either. Heh.

Yeah, plan on buying The Night Gallery season 1 at some point.
As for Dark Shadows, they have em on DVD all right. Every episode. 26 separate DVD collection sets and they run over $50 a pop. Sci-fi used to air Dark Shadows re-runs, but no channel does currently that I know of.

The site and On Demand channel launched today. The site it's self has some full streaming movies and if you have Comcast On Demand, Fearnet is listed under "free movies". They only have a hand full of movies so far. Hopefully they will expand in the next few weeks.

Watched a movie on fearnet last night...
TCM: The Next Generation...
Something about a sadistic Matthew McConaughey with a robotic leg makes me all hot n bothered...
Hope they add more good movies...
