Saw that last night.....almost cracked a rib laughing so hard.

Gah, I just watched the trailer again. I just don't freaking understand why they didn't go with the logical plot. Why didn't they have Rocky training Rocky Balboa Jr? I mean, freaking A Sylvestor, give somebody else a chance. I know the pool out there for oversized actors that don't suck is pretty much empty, but surely you can train at least one dark haired muscle bound person to be the son of the Italian Stallion.

Anyone remember from Airplane II when there was a Rocky 38 poster and it showed a withered Stallone with a walker? Could have sworn that was satire.

Anyway As much as I liked rocky three I still think the biggest mistake the franchise ever made was making a franchise out of it. If Stallone had kept at only one Rocky he would have had a perfect story, perfect ending, all neat and tied up, and a actual feeling for cinematic accomplish. Instead we are offered yet another addition to the formula. rocky is underdog. Rocky gets fire. Rocky beats opponent.

Couldn't they have just made a movie on George Foreman?

i might just eat my words tomorrow....but from everything i read everyone who has seen the flick already has given it rave reviews saying it may not be quite as good as the first movie, but is at least on the same playing field as the second.

that coming from people who didn't expect it to be anything at all.

of course, i'll see it tomorrow....people ask me why i'm such a bitch for rocky all the time, until you've walked a mile in my shoes i can't openly explain it easily....i still like the quote that was in the original teaser for the flick...."its not how hard you can hit, or even how hard you can get hit....it's how many times you get up"

regardless, even sly has said over and over how much he hated rocky V, and even IV, cus they lost the autobiographical feel the at least first two had, of being an underdog story...he's the underdog from hell in this one.

And uh...you can expect a repeat 1st movie end in this one as well.

Good, I'm glad. Zak loooves Rocky movies. I don't think they would have made it had they not thought it would be at least tolerable.

Well i always thought 4 was good but i went back and watched it a week or two ago.X was right its just a long form music video against the russians.5 SUCKED George Washington Duke makes that movie watchable. This last one its 95 precent catching up and closing stories and 5 precent boxing. If only Mr T could have done a cameo and there had been some sort of flashback with Apollo this movie would have been perfect.

I saw it the other night. I would put it above IV and way above V. While it goes for the feel of the first one, it's still not as good as the original. As far as the actual fight goes, well it was better than the one in V. The fight scenes in IV were better though.

i always thought that was a weakness in the rocky movies were the fight scenes cause of my dad i have been watching boxing for going on some 20 plus years and the rocky boxing scenes just always looked fake to me.But in this one at least it looks a bit more real.My fav part was when mason hits rock and this music hits up and rock give him a look like " oh shit you just pissed off an old man"

seen it twice....Its head over heels better than 4 or 5. At least head above 3. I'm putting it same level as 2...of course the first movie is one of my top 5 faves...so taking that spot would be difficult.

the fight is shot in HD Digital, the color filters in it, are just...awesome.
the music goes well with it, and i gotta say i think Paulie got all the best lines in the movie....."DO I LOOK LIKE AN INDIAN..AHAHAHAH" classic stuff.

Overall, i thought the movie had a good message, i don't really see this...."tying up loose ends" buisiness...i see it more of, ok this is whats been going on in the last 15 years, and thats, the first i dunno, 5 mins of the movie, with some things sprinkled in thru the movie.

Overall, sure its the popular opinion to ask "does he fucking die?!!?" or say "he's godamn 60 years old" regardless, the emotion thats in all the movies is there....the score fit everything in the flick, the story is really well told....
