What good? Where? He encouraged hate and intolerance. Did he do a lot of charity work? Did he help the poor? (I don't know) Or did he just add fuel to the flames of hatred and bigotry? Did he reinforce the beliefs of those who commit crimes of hate? I think so.

judas, when you see so people you love and respect sharing the same opinion, perhaps you might do some introspection and consider you may be wrong.

I didn't HATE him, I don't HATE anyone. But I hope that as more and more fundamentalist hatemongers like him drop dead, perhaps our society will start to evolve somewhat.

If he was a "good christian" I don't want to have anything to do with any of them.

I can't blame people for hating on the guy. He preached so much hate in his life!

He was a big part of that whole AIDS was brought on by gay people mentality....

He was a racist too...

I'm glad he's gone.

I dunno it seems to me that the word hate is thrown around alot.I dont think it was hate.Sure he preached out against moral decay. What preacher hasnt,Eh this is hard to type out i have never been good at this.In his eyes when he saw gays he saw in his eyes children of god sinning. Is that wrong or is it right well depends on who you ask really.Morgan i think we might have to sit down at the coffee house again.I loved our debate over a soda and coffee and i hate debating over a fucking computer.
Still love ya

I can't think of much you could do that would make me dislike you judas. I think you are a good person, you've just been taught the wrong things your whole life and I understand its hard to go against what you have been taught. I'd guess that the majority of people in the town of Athens probably think the way you do to, as to members of your church, family, etc.

Hell, my family is from the south and my grandparents oppose gay marriage and would have a heart attack if I married a black guy. But they are poor and they are christian and they realize that the republicans are out for the interests of the rich. None of them went to college or even graduated high school, but they liked to be able to feed their families and saw unions helped protect them. And I think they firmly agree with separation of church and state which our founding fathers found very important.

But anyways, there probably is no point in debating you are stuck in your ways and I am too.

Here's just a few quotes by this wonderful, thoughtful, caring, and forgiving Christian man...
AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals.
I wonder what he thought about other diseases... like... i don't know... say the heart disease he suffered from which most likely killed killed him.
If you're not a born-again Christian, you're a failure as a human being.
Great. I'm a failure. Never mind that I've dedicated my life to loving and taking care of my special needs daughter, who is apparently also a failure as a human being in Mr. Falwell's book.
Homosexuality is Satan's diabolical attack upon the family that will not only have a corrupting influence upon our next generation, but it will also bring down the wrath of God upon America.
I'll bet he smiled when Katrina hit.
Christians, like slaves and soldiers, ask no questions.
I agree with you there, Jerry.
The whole global warming thing is created to destroy America's free enterprise system and our economic stability.
It is God's planet - and he's taking care of it. And I don't believe that anything we do will raise or lower the temperature one point.
Yeah... all those scientists making shit up to make you look bad. What retards.
There's been a concerted effort to steal Christmas.
Does Jerry know the definitions of "concerted effort" and "steal?"
The idea that religion and politics don't mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country.
Oh... I missed his name being listed as one of the drafters of the Constitution.
Billy Graham is the chief servant of Satan in America.
Wait... what???
Someone must not be afraid to say, 'moral perversion is wrong.' If we do not act now, homosexuals will 'own' America!...If you and I do not speak up now, this homosexual steamroller will literally crush all decent men, women, and children who get in its way...and our nation will pay a terrible price!

People for the American Way, "Hostile Climate," 1997, p.15.
(Vice President Gore) recently praised the lesbian actress who plays 'Ellen' on ABC Television...I believe he may even put children, young people, and adults in danger by his public endorsement of deviant homosexual behavior...Our elected leaders are attempting to glorify and legitimize perversion.

People for the American Way, "Hostile Climate", 1998, p.9.
I hope I live to see the day when, as in the early days of our country, we won't have any public schools. The churches will have taken them over again and Christians will be running them. What a happy day that will be!

America Can Be Saved, 1979
Ooops. Too bad.
Grown men should not be having sex with prostitutes unless they are married to them.

on CNN's Crossfire, May 17, 1997
Yet another score for misogyny! Your momma must have been proud.
I listen to feminists and all these radical gals - most of them are failures. They've blown it. Some of them have been married, but they married some Casper Milquetoast who asked permission to go to the bathroom. These women just need a man in the house. That's all they need. Most of the feminists need a man to tell them what time of day it is and to lead them home. And they blew it and they're mad at all men. Feminists hate men. They're sexist. They hate men - that's their problem.
The argument that making contraceptives available to young people would prevent teen pregnancies is ridiculous. That's like offering a cookbook as a cure to people who are trying to lose weight.
Since I'm not Christian, I guess I can ask a question... And exactly how well does the current abstinence only policy stack up? Oh... wait... I already know the answer. Teen pregnancy back on the rise as well as disease.

The First Amendment is not without limits.
Good. STFU. Oh... I guess you just did.
I really believe that the Pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians, ... the ACLU, People For the American Way - all of them who have tried to secularize America - I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this [terrorist attack: 9/11] happen.

700 Club, Sept 13, 2001
No... actually it was religious zealots who flew those planes.
The firemen came and broke through the chimney top. And me and Mom were expecting them to pull out a dead cat or a bird. And instead they pulled out my father. He was dressed in a Santa Claus suit. He'd been climbing down the chimney... his arms loaded with presents. He was gonna surprise us. He slipped and broke his neck. He died instantly. And that's how I found out there was no Santa Claus.

damn, you did some research....

if he were still around, i would have to dig out my bible and blast him on a few points. The "Gods planet thing", somewhere in genisis, it says that we were to be sheperds of the earth, inducing global warming is not what i would call being any sort of a sheperd.

thanx for the quotes, damn good read.

Gothic Spleen:

No. Not really. I got most of them off the Richard Dawkins site. To be 100% honest I'm not even completely absolutely positive that all of them were really said in those exact words, but I'd be willing to bet that they were :)

I actually plan on looking them up over the next week. Any I find that can't be verified, I'll mark as such.

Mixed feelings. I hate it when most people die, if nothing else because death stops everything. No remorse, no change, no freedom, when your die you lose everything. So because Falwell is gone he loses any opportunity to apologize for the hate he spread. That little something makes me feel a little bad for him. On the other hand I can't say in any sort of honesty that I'm going to miss the guy.

I am so glad that he died... finally. Now, If the news would finally stop talking about him I would just fine.

Yeah. He tried to sue over it, but it got kicked out of court.
