Soul Mates
Do you believe that there is such a thing as soul mate?
Do you believe you can have more than one some mate in a lifetime?
Do you believe that you and your soul mate have meet in a previous life, and shall meet again in the next life?
Do you believe that your soul mate, if you have one or believe in one is your true other half?
Alternatively, do you believe, you have no control over whom you fall in love with?
In addition, there is no such thing as the concept or idea of a soul mate?

Yeah, I'm kinda hung up on that one m'self.
my soul stole my wallet, drugged me, and left me for dead, lying face down in the middle of a playground sandbox.
so even if it does have a mate, i really don't want find it.

i dont know. i hate thinking that there is just absolutely nothing beyond this. that, after we die, there is no memory of this life, nothing that carries over, moves on. that we just up and forget, or better yet lose, everyone and everything that we experienced here....even the ones we love. i just dont like it. its like, there are people you live your whole life for and would do anything for, and then when you die, you have no idea that you ever even knew them. something like that. it makes sense to me.

Souls, yummy souls. Ok you still shouldn't be sad though, cause if you don't have a soul you won't have to worry about it, and if you do have a soul you will get to cherish for eternity or come back for a while or burn in unquenchable hell fire, which are all positive things!
If there is an omnipotent God and It made us or at least set up the conditions for us to come into existence and we have a soul then the likelihood of him condemning us to either eternal hell or oblivion are slight. If there is an omnipotent God representing a cosmic consciousness then the likelihood of any one soul being lost or destroyed or forgotten are also slight. If there is no God, purpose, afterlife, or anything like that and its all chance and evolution, then we need to come to the realization that the best possible evolutionary stance to take is rational utilitarianism, because the best environment for our children to grow up is where everyone is concerned for the safety of the whole. Don't Worry, Be Happy, or at least Happy for a Goth. You know eat in moderation, consider other people's feelings, don't be a dick. It'll all be ok.

Well, I don't really buy the soul thing, or soulmate thing, or afterlife thing for that matter...but I don't think that makes the love I feel for people any less...I enjoy them while I am here for as long as I am able to, make the best of it, and then one day my particles will be recycled into some other bits of something, maybe some bits of someone that help their synapses fire and feel love for someone else...
Yeah, I forgot.
Sure its possible to run into someone who has has genetic and environmental influences that could possibly perfectly match up with your own and the pheremonal and physical attraction factors could be just right and everyone could live happily ever after. 1 in 6 billion people, thats better odds than complex life spontaneously creating itself in enough quantities to survive to its current state within 5 billion years, and there's plenty of atheists betting on those odds.
So in a rational cynical way, sure there are soul mates. Will we meet them in our < 120 year lifespan? No.

"Do you believe that there is such a thing as soul mate?"
Well to play cheater first, I don't believe in souls. So therefore there can't be a soul mate. to reword things, I don't think I beleive in a "just perfect for you" companion. I think people can lead themselves to believe that but it's nothing out of the natural world I think.
Now for the questions that interests me the most.
"Alternatively, do you believe, you have no control over whom you fall in love with?"
Well personally I have a hard time controlling that one. Love is too strong a word for those occasions...but I do feel I personally have little control feeling extremely atracted to a lady. I'll tell myself "nope, not going to do it...nope nope nope..." and then the next thing you know plop I step into attraction. It's actually a contest of sellf wills. My rational and my emotional sides taking fire at each other.
of cource this might me a flaw in my own design...eh...But if we codln't help who we fall in love with that would explain a lot of sour relationships.

I do believe that at some point in your life you will cross paths with your soul mate. Whether or not you will form a relationship with them is a different story. Sometimes the timing just isn't right. And I wish I could express what I'm trying to say a little bit better, but I can't.
I do believe that a person has control over who they love.
I've already encountered my soul mate. I know that. It sounds stupid probably to everyone else, but you will know who they are when you get that 'I don't want to be apart from you at any cost" feeling.
I only know that I had a lot of growing up to do when I left.
Will there ever be another chance? I don't know.
So many things factor in that it gets crazy, but hey, someone should conduct some research, compile their findings and report it to the masses.
