Its ALMOST scarry that someone is sadistic as i, and thought of playing once bitten, while i did sparklers. I sorta wish i woulda had roman candles to shoot at people....ya know we needed some mass confusion........

It was also sad that only like 5 people knew their "Fast Times" stuff. And also, my incoherent scream was "San Dimas High School Football RULES".....followed by the Bill & Ted theme.

um i had fun did you cats??

I had a blast, X! You and Bone did a great job!

More fans or a better air conditioner would've been great, but overall it was quite enjoyable. Minnie the Moocher had to be the highlight for me, along with watching CD and Merc bustin moves with the devil down in Georgia.

I hated that so many people left early due to the heat, but it actually got much cooler once the number of bodies dropped. Hope to see everyone back next Friday!

whats up with you guys playing a dance song then playing hair metal songs to clear the floor??? :-?

.. used to be the fashion (BACK in the DAY) to play 1-3 dance tunes in a row that catered to the audience then play some shit....

it was almost as if you guys were trying to clear the floor out. :!:

I dont mean to piss anyone off but the music mixing sucked absolute ass - it was like some horrible frat boy party mix ...

and jeez "right said fred - im too sexy" ???? what up with that??
and "devil went down to georgia" i was in the crowd outside waiting for free bird to come up any time after right sad fred and maybe some crappy white lion just to top off the night or maybe a nice christopher cross tune.... not....

example: you dont follow depeche mode with shit hair metal songs you follow it with something similar enough in general flavor to keep the people dancing something more apropo in general to the crowd would have been a cure or tears for fears song...

i would have gotten a clue when i had noted only 1-3 people dancing between 11:00 and 01:30 except for the few minutes that a DM tune or SOft cell tune filled the limited floor space....

sorry to be so blunt ....but fucking hell.. get a clue .

I personally think the heat had something to do with...well most of it... I mean, after 39 people came and said "hey i'd dance but its fucking hot". I also think you have stretched the truth a bit, i can't speak for Bone, and i don't intend to.....however i played a short set of hair metal, because even if you think its shit, someone liked it...if they didn't- it wouldn't still get airplay or ever would have for that matter. Again i had a set, not black then white, back to black and then white.

I'm too sexy??....yes i sold out, fucking sue me. One it was requested, Two, i had a brainfart, Three...jesus wheres my points for playing shit that NEVER EVER EVER gets played.....

For gods sakes, my second set was all requests, besides a few songs that AGAIN, do not get played....whens the last time you heard Kraftwerk's "Pocket Calculator"???

So, basically let's review with me being X.....

1. you didn't like it....sorry, but its not gonna change just for you, esp when i have everyone else saying thanks.

2. So i sold out one song?? i also played about 390823948 other ones that NEVER get played....

3. Where you may not like hair stuff, and a majority may not as well...i do, and i will play it because you can't have the 80s without it.

4. Only give your opinion when you have something to compare it against. I can take criticism, but i don't take it well from someone who just came out one time, and has nothing to compare it against.

5. I too was one of the people outside bitching about the devil went down to georgia, so that point was completly retarded and should have been avoided on your part.....if you know who i am even.

6. Thanks and come back, then i may listen a little more...right now tho, everyones chants of "X Rules" are a little louder than yours of "I'm Too Sexy is dumb"

Skar23, the one thing that escapes most critics about our nights is that it doesnt matter whats really played, its all in fun. Yeah I walked out when Devil Went Down to Georgia was played but then I had the chance to socialize with those outside, as for I'm Too Sexy, its always a blast to watch our crew get out and be silly. Hell you should have seen me do David Lee Roth's I'm Just A Gigilo goth style, I made an ass out of my self and it was funny as well as fun. Our parties rock with diversity, both appealing to all of us and appalling to a lot of us. But who cares, we're having fun, and thats the whole idea. X's point about the heat was correct, I would have danced a hell of a lot more if I wasnt sweating buckets. But then our crowd is 40% dancers, 60% socializers. Yes, most businesses want to have that dance floor filled, but thats not what we're about. So before you start opening your mouth and criticizing... get a clue... and get some facts to back you up.

This is very accurate. I was fucking blistering, drank my fair share of 5 gallons of water, and I wasn't even dancing.

The music was overall good. And that's all one can expect out of such a diverse selection as a "Category: Era" night.

apology to x

Post by skar23 »

as that was my first night out and i dont have a comparison.... yet...
i do hereby apologize to you x ... you did play some oddities that truly deserve credit... so apology offered with a bow.....

fallen your point on diversity is well put.... but...

I maintain that the mixing needs tweaking : ie depeche followed by something more apropo than hair metal or country/southern rock...
so the floor can wear itself out rather than being driven off......

to quote midge ure (ultravox):
We came to dance...
making moves from a passion play
the ties that bind us just slip away...
we came to dance..
the piper calls out a different rime
he cracks the whip and we step in time........
we came to dance

and that place could most definitely use at least 2 more fans.....
