Niftiest Record In The Collection?

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Niftiest Record In The Collection?

Post by The Prophet Mani »

I'm a complete junkie for recorded music and I was just wonderin' what you folks would view to be the s'wellest deathrock/goth/industrial record you've got.

For me it's a tie:

Rose McDowall - Don't Fear The Reaper 12" ('88 - just gotta love Rosie singin' BöC)

The Cure - Grinding Halt promo only 12" ('79 - the 2nd Cure record ever released and the 1st on Fiction)

but my favs:

misfits earthAD and the die die my darling 12'
samhain bootleg 7 inches printed by danzig to promote a box set that never came out and the ones to promote unholy passion while they waited for the second printing that never happened...
david bowie- diamond dogs and some pic discs......

and a shit ton of danzig, misfits, samhain, bowie, and ALOT of underground metal shit that noone cares about me....

Mine would have to be the five disk Billy Graham(sp?) sermons on Demons. Unfortunately they are all at 16 rpm, and I have yet to find a turntable that will play them.

The score for A Clockwork Orange.

What can I say? Amusingly, I've had to beat off a few people to keep it safe in the attic, got some other things, but I don't feel up to doing inventory in the summer.

Richie Vallens - La Bomba

The only one I could save from my mom.

My biological father claims that when I get married he has the complete set of beatles albums in mint condition that he is going to give me. *purr* He could be full of shit though. He's like that.

Pfft. I have the singles to Prophecy and Crush by Cobalt 60. I paid $43 for Crush, despite its being a 3 track disc, because there are only a few hundred of each in the world, released solely to German DJs to promote the games Wing Commander: Prophecy and Command & Conquer: Red Alert. It's a collaboration between Jean-Luc DeMeyer and Danielle Lailemont, if I'm spelling the frog's last name correctly.

ewwww.... Way too many to list (Yes, I am Way Old; I have been DJing before there was ever such a thing as a CD)

but here are a few of the Tastys:
Misfits Evil Live (1st Print Only about 2000 were origianlly printed)
Original Banned Cover of Scorpions "Love Drive" (this album jacket never made sales floors as it was banned/recalled before the actual release. Mine is a promotional pre-release)
Several Cult 12" singles
Almost every Iron Maiden released through Seventh Son of a Seventh Son Including the 12" singles (excellent B-Sides that never saw LP release)
Alice Cooper "Muscle of Love" (Still in the Cardboard Box "Dust Cover" with the "Institute of Nude Wrestling Text Book Cover"
Ozzy Osbourne - 12" single for Devil's Daughter (Limited DJ only release that included 2 at that time Unreleased tracks "Hero" and "You Said it all" One owhich ended up on some soundtrack or other
David Bowie & Mick Jagger - Dancin in the Streets 12" single
Beatles - Rarities ( a collection of alternate version studio tracks, this one "may" be a bootleg as I never have seen another copy of this one)
Bunch o "OLD" Prince - almost almost all of his LPs through Batman.

Bunch o Picture Discs

An ASSLOAD of 80s underground Heavy Metal, like Mother Love Bone, VoiVod, Exodus, Racer X, Tony McAlpine, Realm, Soundgarden, Danzig, all along with the standards o Metallica, Ozzy, Judas Priest, Motley Crue, ACDC ect. Some Punk too like Misfits, Samhain, Sucidal Tendancies and Ramones.

Finally a few of my favorites:
Lenoard NeMoys "Dr. Spocks Music from Outerspace"
Chipmonks -"Chipmonk Punk" and "Urban Chipmonk"

the list could go on and on and on
Worse is the Albums I was FORCED to sell back in 1990
(bootleg & picture discs of beatles, stones, Janis Joplin, Bob Dillon)*sigh*

Hurm -
Maybe I will dust off the turntable and dig out some Vinyl for an 80s night or Sanctus

okay... now i really did mean the coolest "deathrock" album....

I'm a twenty year record collector and you've invoked the "record war" with your list.... I've over 3000 LPs in my collection, 1500 × 12", 2 × 11", 200 × 10", and 1500 × 7"

My roots are in punk, starting in 1981

Just my Misfits (all original unless otherwise noted)
Cough Cool 7" (i had signed by Danzig in '83)
Halloween 7"
Bullet 7"
Beware (3 copies on Ruby Red... I bought one in Waco, Tx when new and the other two I bought in London in '91 @ 55£ each)
Walk Among Us (2 original LP and 1 bootleg 2×7" on green vinyl from '88 [worth $75 more than original])
Die Die My Darling (on purple)
Legacy Of Brutality (on white)
Earth A.D. (1×yellow - 1×pink)'

& Samhain - November Coming Fire (on red)

All of these you can get on eBay... granted they'll cost more than my McDowall or Cure... but they're, in all honesty, more common.

but boy... i sure do love to hear of beloved vinyl

That is really cool. I don't think I've ever even seen any of their stuff on vinyl.

And I have Siouxsie's JuJu on ancient cassette tape...lol.

I think my two more valuable things are:

The Doors 13 (with the gay butterfly on the cover) which the last time i checked was worth somewhere around 300....and yes it is the more rare of the two variations.

Kiss: The Originals (this was a 3 vinyl set, that had the first 3 records re-released after ALIVE! came out....its a limited press and worth something like 200)

I have a Picture disk from Ozzy, of Blizzard and Bark at the Moon....which i've been told are somewhat hard to comeby. And i had a Motorhead LE that had a Leather cover. The name of the LP escapes me right now.

I've got an old 45 of the Davy Crockett Ballad...which always makes me go "huh huh huh i've got that" anytime i watch Back To The Future and see Marty walk past the record store.

I also have a WONDERFULL collection of ELVIS stuff....cus elvis is the man.- I have all the beatles vinyl up to Sgt Pepper...but i hate the beatles...and Elvis could kick all their asses.
I'm a big bright shining star......
