This looks like a great auction. Here is a synopsis from the website:
The Clarence Brown Theatre is scheduled to hold a Costume Auction on Saturday October 18, 2003 at the Carousel Theatre at the University of Tennessee campus. Auction items will consist of 156 lots of Theatrical Costumes and Vintage Clothing from the CBT wardrobe collection. Costumes styles include almost every historic period from Ancient Primitive to Modern Era. There are also a number of Fantasy and Futuristic characters. There are many great costumes for Halloween and Masquerade events, as well as plays and musicals theatre productions.
The website, auction list and pictures can be found here.

Some people might not know that
Oh, but the stories told afterward would have been fantabulous!

COSTUME AUCTION
Don't sweat the money. An auction is a Crap Shoot some items go for ridiculous money, some you can pick up for a buck. You will not know till the auction happens. One trick to use would be to bid for items in a lot as a group. You will have more Buying power. The preview is important because you will have an opportunity to inspect the items and determine what you might bid on.
