this thread is haunted by a bored to death moderator

Post by Hardcoregirl »

Recently at a party, I heard some friends of mine discussing the "spirits" they've seen in their homes and various "presences" felt. I am sometimes amazed at how many people believe in the paranormal/supernatural/etc.

I personally have never seen a ghost, nor do I believe that they exist. I've felt like someone was in the room with me, but I can't say that that was more than just my paranoia.

However, I do *love* me some ghost stories, and since it's that time of year, and mostly you guys are boring me to death ;), I thought I'd start a thread of discussion on, or experiences of paranormal activity. I love to hear about the personages that people believe they see and the stories they have to explain the "haunting".

Um..yeah...so...get on it.

Hey... your poll answers are unfair! What if 2 of them apply to you? *harumph*

Anyhoo, I've had quite a few experiences w/ hauntings, although I also believe that although we don't have the technology/knowledge now, someday science will explain what hauntings really are. I'm not exactly convinced that hauntings are caused by spirits, but some other (probably electromagnetic) cause.
I believe there are truly haunted places, but not so sure about "ghosts." It makes little sense, I know. But in all my experiences, I have never come across a supernatural entity with any sentience, so I'm loathe to say that there are spirits flitting about.
However, some haunting phenomena has already been explained by quantum physics, such as historical hauntings (in which a person or event replays over and over with no change) which are now believed to be actual light particles caught within a tiny, infinitesimal rift of time-space, which are "kicked" into action (made visible) by jumps in the earth's geomagnetics, sun flares, or even thunderstorms. This theory becomes very credible indeed when you realize that historical hauntings are usually only visible from two directions, directly 180 degrees opposite of each other. These hauntings are only 2 dimensional, therefore becoming highly probable that it is a form of natural hologram.

I know, it's really dry stuff. Sorry.

But, for the poll, I pick #1 and #4.

i was at my parents house and on my way to the bathroom. opened the bathroom door and some man was sitting on the toilet. i said excuse me and closed the door. then realized i was in the house alone and opened the door again and he was gone.

i suppose it could have been a burglar or my imagination but i prefer to think it was a ghost. it felt spooky at the time just like i think seeing a ghost should feel.

Upstairs or downstairs?

I'll avoid it next time I'm there...just in case. ;)

Actually there have been reports of Elvis's ghost sitting on the toilet as well. According to lore, ghosts haunt the places they spent the most time at. Considering how much time is spent ont toilets...

As for myself...Me is nonbeliever. Sometiems i wish there were ghosts just so ther ewould be something interesting for me to do after death.

the downstairs bathroom is where the haunting occured. as for the flushing, i don't think it matters much as it would have been phantom poop.

you know the kind. you feel the poop come out but you turn around to flush and it has disappeared......ooooohhhhh SPOOKY.

To my knowledge, there are, minimum, 4 entities in my home. The first is whom I call Mr. Tophat. He is a manevolent spirit. MANY people that have been in my home have told me about either seeing or feeling him. The 2nd is a woman in her 30's or so....my sisiter and brother-in-law have seen her. The 3rd is a very old woman. I seen her one night while looking in the mirror in my living room. One minute I was seeing myself, brushing my hair, the next there was a very ancient woman looking back at me. I pretty much freaked at that....NO! I was not on drugs or drunk! The 4th is a little girl about 10 or 11. She is blonde, hair in pigtails, dressed in an organza dress....puts me in mind of the 40's or 50's. I seen her one night in my hallway. There have been nights that I've turned off the lights, trying to sleep, and the lights are turned back on. There were also nights, when I was completely alone, "someone" was walking in my living room. When I would get up to go see, noone was there. There have been numerous nights, while laying in bed, that an overpowering smell of perfume assaults me. It is a very spicy, oriental scent. I do not own or wear anything like that; Doc doesn't wear colonge at all. The times that it has happened, the children were at their father's house, so I know it wasn't them. Also, the times that I've smelled it, Doc could not(he was in bed beside me) and the times that Doc has smelled it, I could not.
I'm Jewish. I don't work out. If god had wanted us to bend over, she would have put diamonds on the floor.

I believe because of something that happened to me about 7 or 8 years ago. I'm sure some of you may have read xanga entries about Matthew. Matthew was my best friend when I was small but on Sept. 20, 1991, they found him hanging in a tree. He was 10 years old, I was 12. Well, fast forward to I believe 1996. I was sitting in the back of a friends car and there was Matthew. I sat and carried on a conversation. I don't believe now that this was really Matthew because later that evening, this "entity" asked me to "join" him and I very foolishly started trying stupid things that might cause myself to die. I happened to have friends with me who stopped me and I prayed the hardest that night that I ever prayed. For months after, he'd sit in the corner of my bedroom and stare at me. I don't know if this would be a ghost or a demon or what but it was very real. You can call me insane or whatever. This isn't a story I have shared with a lot of people, until this board now. My personal belief goes along with my religion....the devil may have his own angels such as the Lord does. I believe because I was going through a tough time then that this was the devil's way of getting to me which would really make this "entity" a demon rather than a ghost. So, I believe in "ghosts" because of that.

Not being judgemental... OK?

Maybe Matthew just wanted you to join him. *shrugs* Not meaning to demean anything, but children don't always understand what it is they ask for. He asks you to join him, but doesn't understand the consequences of the request. (kind of like a little girl asking for a pony) Sounds like he was really sad and lonely, IMO. Doesn't mean he was a demon...

And of course, no I wasn't there. Doesn't stop me from being opinionated, though ;)

Oh no, I appreciate any and all opinion on it....it's something that I still haven't completely figured out. It just scared me when it happened because at that point, he'd been dead for about 6 or 7 years and, though I was happy to see him, I was confused as hell. So I appreciate other ways to look at it....being that I still don't understand how it could have happened, and I know how his life was when he was alive, any thing is possible. You very well may be right. The fact that afterwards, all he did was sit and watch me, might actually give more credibility to that even. I don't know.

I am sooooooooooo sorry to hear this happened to you! I dont know if this will help but here goes.

My best friend hung himself in our apartment about three years ago on Easter. Im warped OK there is nothing anyone can do to make that innocence come back. After that I got VERY depressedd I dont think I got out of bed for about 3 or four months. I saw Eddie A LOT. It was horrible at first. I would see him hanging in my closet...dead after they cut him down dead dead dead.......whatever....then one night I talked to Mel (she comes to Sanctus every once in a while) and she told me you just need to know he's in a good place....that night he came to me in my dream, sat on the end of my bed and told me he was OK , I needed to stop crying about it. He loved me and he would see me soon enough.
I also longed so much to be with Eddie and nearly did terrible things to myself to acheive it.

I havent seen him but twice since and i was on the nicotine patch so I was having horrible nightmares.
Point is, suicide is a terrible selfish thing people do without thinking of the reprocussions on others , and sadly I think their sadness is left behind, with the memories.......and it takes time but My preist helped me a lot, I am orthodox, so there are actually prayers for those who take their own lives,,,,and every sunday his name is read amoung the dead we remember. anyway I feel better now...I think when that happens its such a shock to your emotionsand you are openmto see things like that......

It's definitely not something easy to deal with. I generally have kept it a rule not to tell most people about the sightings unless they were close friends because I was talking to a casual friend once and he looked at me like I was insane and asked if I had told my parents (since I was 16 or 17 when the sightings began) and said it was probably a good thing since they would/should have sent me for an evaluation.

I don't really beleive in "ghost" but I do beleive that demons can make themselves into things to make us think we saw a ghost...does that make sense? I personaly have never had an experience (and hopefully never will) but I have heard friends and family talk about different things that have happened to them.
I do love scary stories, tho.

i only post here cus i just spent an hour going to some super old graveyard that was supposedly haunted. I being a) a smart ass b) the kid who is pretty morbid and c) pretty sensitive on paranormal shit went to appease the rest of the crew at work......*it just wasn't fun without me i suppose*

so i go out to this place, which was incredibly beautful, in the middle of nowhere- a muddy trail which i drove out there on....to see a big sign that was 'scary' that said the name of the cemetary and rest in peace on the back of the sign...(it was an old style cemetary so the sign was old ass wood, with worn down paint). The rest of the people were like...eww you smell that...its dead smell....i again remind you i am an asshole HAD to state..uh NO thats not dead smell...and trust me kids i THINK i know what a dead body smells like.....the other wonderous stuff was blah blah about standing at some grave for 10 minutes and feeling it get cold....i only felt myself getting bored. anyway this was just an old ass cemetary that had stories spread about it, cus it was so old...my review was "this is dumb, i'm going home"

I felt no spirits there, nor smelt these smells the others supposedly smelt.......

anyway- for the factual stuff, i think i've told the nurse watching me pee and me freaking out and pissing on myself story before, its quite humorous if you haven't heard it....that was the first time i can at least remember 'seeing' a 'ghost' - allthough i know previous to that i KNOW i felt my moms spirit taking care of me in certin situations, and my aunt has told me that i over and over would talk about seeing my mom when i was really little. Regardless, i had a really bad day when i was like 18 or 19 and i went to her graveyard to feel at ease....and i'm still not sure if it was all dreaming, or if it actually happened, but i know i had a long talk with my mom about how my life still had so much more to give me, and how things were about to be better....a week later my life was magic..........i also od'd one night, and she was watching over me, while my girlfriend at that time was going insane trying to save my life....again that could just be me fucking dying and seeing crazy shit.....but regardless i do feel her spirit around when i'm being evil...kinda like shes there going "Barry, i can't believe you are doing that"...and i'm usually like "MOM...i'm trying to do this ugly chick, go away"- i have a good sense of humor about all this, but i felt like shes been the angel on my shoulder more times than i can count to keep me out of danger's way.......

of course then again, perhaps i am looney.
I'm a big bright shining star......

"Ghost", "entity", "demon",... whatever... There r many such thingz that mere mortalz have yet 2 properly & fully explain; however, once u'v experienced such, denial iz futile & other peepz' denial iz generally dismissable az lack of experience &/or comprehension. 4 thoze "show me" & "prove it" peepz (such az myself), b careful 4 that which u ask... u just might get it!

i think if more people studied the actual math and science in the theory behind the astral plane and compared it to the maps of magnetic lines across the globe and then held the timing of magentic flux to the times of equinox and any time of high "supernatural" activity.....
you can see where im going with this.
