No, vader- i am NOT joking! I'm being dead serious. I just want to see who has balls enough to do it and so far only Ophilia, bless her, is the only person willing to do it.

*dont want to pay cover...for country music...

*they'd scare me-i'd suck my thumb
(why should anyone scare you? think of yourself as desmond morris on wildlife observing expedition...and they might be more scared of u or us, who knows?)
*it'd require great planning
(bullshit. the implication is it'd not be worth the effort. What planning is needed. Show up w/ a few bucks in pocket)
*dress code
(don't wear fucking spikes around your collar or wrists. you'll be fine, besides, those don't trick anyone into thinking u'r tough anyway.)

I have actually been to CEJs a couple of times. Although not my favorite venue, I did have a good time because of the people that I went with.

Actually, I went there with a couple of people that I worked with. I was perfectly okay in vinyl; however, the guy that was with us was not welcome because he didn't have his shirt tucked in. He was quite the "preppy" attired one; however, he was told by the bouncer that he was not allowed in as long as his shirt was untucked. Their dress code is a little more strict than you suspect.

It's not really my idea of what a "pirate raid" was for; however, have at it.

if my schedule will allow.... thats the issue.
and id bet money others would too. just tell em its goth points or something. :chuckle:
id like to go just to document the social interaction that could transpire........

agreed, country is so depressing if you can make it thru an album with no selfinflicted gunshot wounds or stay sober thru it, you get a CMA award...

thats not everyone that does it though...
i wear alot of that shit not because i think it makes me tough, because it makes me happy. tough is pointless, carry weapons.

ok - here's why I personally am not that interested:

1. I've been. It's not a pleasant atmosphere, and it's not my idea of a good time. The only real reason I was there was to pick up some drunk friends, but that was not a one-time event, and they didn't always go gently.

2. I HATE COUNTRY! This is the biggest reason I don't want to go. There are only 2 kinds of music that I absolutely despise, those being country and the repetitive garbage they play at "raves".

So, let's give the rednecks their little world. And if they bother us at Sanctus, kill them. (no offence, Rob. we like you.))
We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further.

I'm still in. I think it would be fun. Period. Balance and JC are both right about the dress code. When I've been there, they let girls wear what they want (as long as it's decent and legal) and guys are asked to tuck in their shirts. Big deal. I've worn a collar there on several occasions, and actually had girls ask me where I got it. I think that if you hate country music with a passion, you should not go. Country is not ALL they play. But I think it is terribly wrong to assume that people who listen to country are rednecks, or that the club itself is filled with rednecks. I don't listen to "goth" music at home, nor would I have anyone calling me "goth" because I go to Sanctus. Stereotyping people is where we get into trouble. I know people who go there because it is a venue where you can still slow dance, and do east coast swing, without being regarded as a weirdo. I like to go because people do actually dance together there, respectfully, rather than just grind themselves on their partner's leg.
Sure, I'll try to be nicer, if you try to be smarter.

I can agree with that completely. That was the really fun part of it while I was there.

Wow...that does sound fun.
I appreciate the ability you two have to enjoy whatever surroundings you're placed into.

I'd do most anything to get away from those girls at Sanctus that get tipsy and grind all over each other. I mean...if you are really bi, good for you- go get a room, stop being a such a dick tease...y'know what I mean?

My message to those type girls:

Use something besides fake bisexuality to get the guys aroused, like, maybe your braincells!!

Besides, they have a strick sexually defined dress code. They'd probably let the girls in all gothed up, but they turn the guys away at the door.

That actually happened to me and a couple of friends at Liquid... they let her in and denied myself and 2 others, and i wasn't dressed too goff that night either, they didn't like my finger armor, my collar and they said my pants didn't fit dress code.... they just looked at one guy that was with us and said, "Umm.. there's no way your getting in here tonight." and the third was wearing a dress so they said no to him.
My thoughts are my bible, that's what I live by.

It seems to me that this is more of a hairy barbarian raid than Pirate raid.

Pate-ed christ on a cracker!.....I can't believe I created an institution.

The whole idea behind the original pirate raid was going to a club in Nashville (the Tunnel) on a Saturday night with good music playing and there was only about 20 locals, myself, and Shadow Dancer.

I was thinking of how we had easily three times that number on a slow Wednesday (at Sinister, at The Other Side, and that other place who's name I forget). I though, "These people suck! I bet I could get more people from Knoxville to come here and take this place over despite the three hour drive!"

Turns out I was right. All there base were belong to us.

As a result, by the time the Tunnel shut down their local attendance had tripled and those of us still raiding no longer dominated the dance floor. That crowd went on to create Static which we also raided. (another night of the green fairies, ugh!)

Hmmm......did I have a point?

Oh yea. The raids were to show everyone in the general area that our group of happy campers kicks ass and if they like what a small group of us were like then they should come visit us during our monthly spectacular. It keeps everything dynamic. three nights a week is only fun if you get to see new faces. If I am going to see the same old faces then I would rather just see them once a month. Absence (not Absinthe) makes the heart grow fonder and excessive familiarity always breeds contempt.

....and all that. Not that I see signs of that round here.

So.....as the Captain. If the sole purpose is to "Freak the aboriginies" then blah! Boring! I can do that for free at the mall and the music is better there. (not to mention more dancing space!)

BUT.....if it is to show how we all is hip and fun party people and they should take a chance and buy themselves a Johny Cash Cowboy outfit and a pack of cloves and join our party, just for the sake of variety. Well that is a whole other tea kettle.

They don't scare me....They bore me. It would only be interesting to me if it made them more interesting to me.

Hmmmmm......now it sounds more like a missonary trip than a raid.

CONVERT THE PAGAN HEATHENS!

(By the way, I have to say that I agree with the assesment that most Classical Country music is more sad and sappy than most "Goth" music. It has ever been my often voiced opinion that "Country" could be very good "Goth" music with little remixing and a tempo change. See how well Patsie Klein's "Crazy" turned out? So what is keeping all you aspiring musician? If it turns out good, our DJ's might even play it.)

(for comic relief....at least)

this really made my day... i don't know why... but it did, because i am bi curious, yet i don't make out with every girl that i see. the people that do just make girls like me look like trash.... it is kind of sad really.... :-(

you know, maybe, not all the chicks are playing fake bisexuality to arouse guys. maybe they don't even give a fuck about the guys.

maybe it just takes a drink or two to loosen them up to the point that they want to dance. hell, maybe they have anxiety problems and require a couple shots of 151 just walk into an event like sanctus. who knows.

maybe they just feel more comfortable dancing with their friends as opposed to some random guy. i don't know about anyone else, but i don't really enjoy dancing with some random penis grinding on my leg/hip.

besides, there's chicks like that EVERYWHERE. if it bothers someone that much, they need not watch. if someguy wants to sit there and watch for future spank bank reference, thats his own problem, whatever.

and not to knock the idea, but if you want to go dance with big shiny belt buckles and some line dancing cowboy boots all to get away from "fake bisexual" chicks. good fucking luck.

Not to speak for Buttercup, but I really don't believe that her post was intended to be interpreted this way. At least, it wasn't to me.

There is a fine line between was is appropriate and what is not. Dancing with a girl is fine. Being bisexual is great. Displaying ridiculous and somewhat degrading sexual conduct in public is, well, not appreciated by many individuals. Everything can be done with decorum, even dancing with a girl. I have seen girls at gothic events in Knoxville actually get on the floor and grind themselves onto other people's body parts/ faces. Sorry folks, this is bedroom behavior. Call me old fashioned, or just call me getting old, but I believe that ladies should still maintain and display an element of class. This is what I was referring to in my original post, and what I think Buttercup is also insinuating. Sexy and smutty are not the same thing.

gwenhwyfar wrote:and not to knock the idea, but if you want to go dance with big shiny belt buckles and some line dancing cowboy boots all to get away from "fake bisexual" chicks. good fucking luck.

Actually, I've never seen behavior like that at CEJ's, nor do I believe that they would tolerate it for a second.

This whole idea seems kinda weird to me. I still do not really understand the purpose of going to CEJ's. It seems more like a suicide or some freak urge maybe to convert "Goths" into country listeners. I'm not cracking on country music...nor am I slamming it. I feel,if you wanna listen to (fill in the blank) go ahead. If it makes you happy ...go for it. But,I am failing to see the production values of a trip to CEJ's. If the only reason to go is because someone might say "You're too scared to go" or because I wanna freak someone out....then that is not really productive. Nor is converting people into the "Goth" scene that have no desire to be here and may only cause problems in the long run.

If it is "going just to have a good time"...go for it. More power to you. I Very rarely go out in the first place. So my opinion really should be ignored. But,I am curious as to what the intentions are behind this...if any.
