Chat - Now In Beta Test!

Post by DarkVader »

I've turned on the chat software - it's an early test right now, so the user count is wrong, the colors are wrong, but it does sort of work.

let me know if I should stay with this software, or find something new.

It's OK... after trying a couple times, I've found it really bogs down my system. I'm on dial-up (it sucks, I know), and it just takes forever to refresh the chat.
Other than that, it's OK.

Thankies!

Ditto, what she said. It seems awefully slow.

I am all for continuing to work out the bugs... 'course my opinion is biased... I do chat on NG afterall! But, overall, I am just happy to have a KG chat...it's much better than none!!!

In the interest of furthering your debugging, it is registering the correct number of users when it is trasitioning between when you submit a post and when it actually takes you back to see your post.
Clarification,
that screen where it gives you the option to view your post or go back to the forum.

It jumps. Again with the seizure.
What's more, it drops letters and sometimes whole words off of my replies.

from my playing with it somewhat it seems decent. Its a tad slow, but blah, its better than nothing.

Also playing with at library which has big sign to my left that says "NO CHATTING" and having to look over shoulder at all times is annoying, but thats my problem isn't it?

it eats part of a typed message when you try to type, enter, and then type again without waiting, which sucks, but its better than nothing. Maybe ther eis something out there that is better, but then who knows.

there is better; it's called irc. but tying that into the board would be an utter bitch.

there's also java, but from what i hear, that doesn't work for some people.

so i guess this is the best we get, until there's better. ;)

The improvements are great, tho sometimes the above chat link jumps from 6 or 3 or whoever Users Currently Chatting to 0 every now and then, also, the background does seem a tad dark especially for reading the darker colors. I'd suggest lightening it to forum background, like the post above :)

That color is what it used to be. From experience, it sucked.

The darker color provides for a cool black light effect.

huh? the chat background is actually a bit lighter than the lightest color in the forum. The old chat color was the default that was set by the software, and it's terrible. It doesn't match anything else on KG.
