Food Drive (@ Sanctus) (& maybe win a free Sanctus pass)

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Food Drive (@ Sanctus) (& maybe win a free Sanctus pass)

Post by mafiaman »

At the next Sanctus I will have some empty boxes in the Bizarre Bazaar for non-perishable food items to be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank. Buttercup came up with the original idea and I think it is a good one. So, bring in a a can of soup or something non-perishable for those less fortunate then ourselves this Xmas, drop it by my table, and enjoy the rest of the night knowing that you have improved the human condition ever so slightly.

I've bought several of you reading this drinks at Sanctus in the past and have not asked for a payback. Now I'm asking. I don't want a drink or money, just bring some food to donate to the needy instead - I'll consider us even. For those whom I have never bought a drink for, bringing in some non-perishable food means that I will owe you a favor in the future.

See you at Sanctus.

Thanks mafiaman...

Thrall is supposed to get back to be after having contacted Second Harvest...

I'll let everyone know.

As I said before, this is a great idea.

I will definitely bring something. :D

How convenient! I'd been wondering what to do with all those cans of boiled peanuts I've somehow accumulated over the years :D :P

Just kidding...I'll bring something people would actually eat.

Mafiaman, thanks for doing this.

KnoxGothic.com will be doing our part to help with this.

Everyone who brings food donations to Sanctus will get to put their name in a hat.

At a few points during the night, we will pull names out of the hat and award free passes to next month's Sanctus.

So, bring food - you might get in free next month!

Types of Food

Post by mafiaman »

Canned soups, canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned meat, just bring in anything in a can that is edible will be welcome. These are the types of foods that Second Harvest has told me that they want the most of. Also peanut butter, they love the peanut butter.

However, whatever their motivations, I believe that this is a good cause and encourage everyone to donate what they can.
Please also consider donating children's and women's clothing to the abused women's shelter of your choice.

[edit] after several complaints, I have decided to edit this post. Please play nice.

A WARNING

I'm only going to say this once. This thread will have NO DRAMA. I'm simply not going to tolerate it. No quips, jabs or subtle little snobbishness. This thread is about helping others that are less fortunate than us.

I don't anyone has ulterior motives by doing the food drive. I've spoken with many people prior to this who are interested, and I think it is a fabulous idea.

I would be glad to take part in this.
