and Nader is in the race again.

with bushs polls droping, he once again calls on his old friend who gave him the victory in 2000.

Nader announced he would be running as an independant.

the funny scene was when they showed footage of a nader fan watching the news report, the Nadernite heard the anouncment, hung his head and said "oh crap".

Nader in the race is a terrible thing because he'll only serve to take away votes from the democratic nominee. Bush is surely going to win now.

The reality of it is that the few votes he did get last time tipped the scales to Bush's favor. Nader votes secured several states for the republicans. He pisses me off sitting there spouting noble retoric about the evils of the two party system & electoral college, when he's essentially helping to make it a one party system & once again, to help Bush manipulate the E.C. Russert summed it up when he asked Nader if this wasn't really about ego. It's either that, or he's on the republican payroll. :roll:

A lot of conspiracy theorists believe that our voting machines themselvse are rigged anyway. Well not somuch the machine, but the way the vote is transmitted. From what I have been 'told' they use simple modems to transmit votes to the tally PCs. Sent 1 vote/call at a time. So anyone w/ a simple understanding of the system could setup a script on a 56k that makes whoever you want to win.........Disgusting

tell me exactly how many nader DID get, then we'll talk. i think my opinion is very realistic. Especially considering how close the last "election" was. 50,000 votes right? i think nader got around 3 mil.
No republican would ever vote for him, so who would he hurt.
He has NO chance of winning.
don't get me wrong, i want bush gone-but don't like kerry...but nader is also a joke.

Furthermore bush didn't win the popular vote. But getting into that opens a huge can o worms.

Does anyone else find it odd that the vast majority of people who post here appear to have similar political views? Before I read this site, I would never have guessed that the democrats have a goth constituency. I personally won't vote for a demican or a republicrat.

Nader got my nod last time around. His points are extremely valid in that democrats and republicans are essentially the same. Hindsight being 20/20, I do think that getting Bush out of the white house is the best thing that we could do for the state of America, but I honestly do not think Kerry (or Edwards) will bring much, if any, noticeable change.

I think that Nader's role as a "spoiler" is not going to be an issue this year. People saw what came of that. I hope that he instead serves to bring up issues and opinions that force the other candidates to comment on them and lie about what they intend to do - NAFTA, same sex marriage, unemployment, our shoddy intelligence community, taxes, and maybe, just maybe, our first strike policy.

I feel strongly that we are in need of a viable 3rd party, or strong independent "housecleaning" point of view. Our political system has become so capitalized, I don't think anybody connected to either primary party could or would do anything to rock the boat. I will vote for the dem this year, but only because I do feel that Bush is an idiot and a right wing nervous xian.

It's a very sad realization that you cannot vote for the man that you think will make a difference and must instead vote for the man most likely to beat Bush, whatever his politics may be - for the record, Kerry is a nervous xian opposed to same sex marriage as well. We are just trading one knucklehead for another.

I see it as taking the lesser of two evils ... Kerry may not be the best, but Bush is just beyond horrible. Four more years of him and we'll be living in Oceania, in 1984.

I also agree that it's about Nader's ego. I think this time around though, he's not going to draw off as many votes as he did in 2000. I think the number one priority for his supporters will be instead to do everything to vote Bush out.

That would only work in those areas with electronic voting machines. Half the country is still on paper ballots last I knew.

Umpteenzillion voting methods, and they're all in use. Scarily, most of them depend on live human beings to do the tallying.

I was going to coment on that. Their are a few people on here who claim to enjoy the evil side of things, but then support the democrats (or at least hate bush) and I was...........HEY! wait a minute.........

the only place the evils are equal is the same sex marriage issue (they are both against it)
bush wants to impose overreligious laws on media, lifestyle choices, ect ect (i.e. the subititle thing previously posted here)
he is trying to ban overtime
bush aids are currently in question of destroying the nam documents about him
what about his emperical evidance of WMD's and then claiming he wasnt wrong, it was his intellegence that was wrong and then forming a "blue collar investiagion" based after the fucking warren commission (the biggest conspiracy on american soil until this president... the people who hid the JFK info)
hes diverted more funds (god knows where hes gonna cut them from) for his aisine mars idea
what about treasury secretary Paul O'Neill's admission that there were drafts to invade Iraq pre-911 and his "fact finding" memos to fabricate pretenses for war?
or his bill to slash vet's health care which was so sick i didnt even wait to see if it got passed.
the asshole even took money out of aids research
theres been multiple instances of him faking photos with the troops he sent to die for fucks sake
our job loss ratio is almost identical to the one during the great depression
hes cutting american jobs and claiming hes creating more
not to mention hes supporting outsourcing qualifed labor markets
hes revived his fathers efforts to destroy the middle class by making the poor poorer and the rich richer in ways that only the bush family have been able to pull off via tax cuts and tax benefits to the people who DONT FUCKING NEED IT
he faked pretense for a war and has questionable ties to the acts of sept11th (i.e. being involved in causation)
halliburton has questionable amounts of oil in their inventory they wont account for (i.e. defeating the claims we took no oil. well the gov didnt but halliburton did)
and for those who werent aware of Halliburons favorite customer pre-Dick Cheney stepping down to be VP it was SADDAM. he left with 36 million in his back pocket to be VP (a job that also governs energy ccncerns i.e. OIL)..... could he have taken that money as a kickback? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
does anyone remember the Kay reports and statements?
and fuck jeb bush while im thinking about it for dumping the iran contra on ollie north so the bush family wouldnt burn.

Nader wont get damn near any of the votes because this time around people want bush out and hes ALREADY appealing to the wrong audience. And ive got the number of votes he got last time in some old articles in my archives... bare in mind it takes 5% of the polls to be allowed to speak at a debate. during the enitre 2000 campaign he was never allowed to speak. they even let Perot do it when his numbers where at 6%. Its not like its a stiff bar.

Eh, i watch some c-span to get me nice n sleepy at night...and two things i know.......

1) with the election still 9 months off....and bush's aproval dropping like it is now....will only gain momentum, who is a possible threat (Kerry) will be a real threat by then....you have to consider the shit doesn't hit the fan till like...july or aug- and Bush is being painted into a corner NOW....with 4 or 5 months to go till the real shit goes down.....Its sorta like a tag match......

Bush has the up on everyone right now....his tag team is in control but fucking spots up left and right.....eventually he will mess a spot up, and the Kerry tag team will be there to see it and catch it....when this happens, both will be even, until Kerry gets the hot tag, and comes in fucks everything up...and bush does the j-o-b....nader?? hes the special guest ref that takes the ref bump 5 mins into the match.....He COULD be a threat to the deal....but in all honesty hes just a goof, bought in to boost the pay per view sales.

also....2) someone is gonna shoot mel gibson in the asshole for making "the passion of the christ"...probably a jew, cus they're PISSED.
