Quilting - Revisited

I'm working on another quilt. This one I'm doing by machine. Sewing all the squares together is getting a bit dull. ;o) I tend to work on it while watching the speed channels custom car shows. Anyway.. anyone have any suggestions on how to make this process any faster?

WATCH YOUR FINGERS!!! I once saw a chick that wasnt watching what she was doing with a sewing machine and she sew into her thumb! AhHHHHAhHhhhh that was a fun day ewwww!

Nope, I used to quilt alot. Best thing to do is sew 2 squares together. Then another 2 squares. Once you have all of your pairs done then start sewing together pairs. Makes dealing with the fabric easier. Do you quilt stich over patterns?

Nope, just a basic checkerboard quilt. I'm not too fond of the sewing machine. I'd rather sew everything by hand, but I'm making a King size quilt and lemme tell you.. I do NOT want to hand sew the whole thing.. Not my idea of fun. So I'll just have to bear with the noisy monster.

I've been putting my pairs together, but it takes for freaking ever!

Have you ever tried strip peicing? Cut your fabric into strips , sew, then cut into squares. Almost any quilt site with patterns talk about it. I might be able to send you info from one of my books if ya want it.
