March Sanctus Requests

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

March Sanctus Requests

Post by MahoganyDawn »

I couldn't find one. If there is one... someone delete this thread. ;o)

Sneaker Pimps - 6 Underground
Portishead - Glory Box
Godhead - Eleanor Rigby
Mr. M. Manson - Sweet Dreams
Orgy - Stitches

I'm in a nostalgic mood..
May your dreams be the future you could have had, and your nightmares be the realization that you destroyed your chance to make it reality.

Digital Underground = Humpty Dance

Oh, come on, we know Bone has it and that it will pack the dance floor...... Or at least get Judas out there....

As I mentioned in my xanga,, I am shying away from the commonly requested stuff this month and playing selections from my current favorite clubish winamp playlist. It's about 95% industrial so be prepared.

Also, Zeo will be DJing with us this month. He likes his industrial too. :woot:

I can dig on some industrial. Mainly I wanted to hear Sweet Dreams... since that's my and Clockwork's song. ;o)

There MUST be an industrial version of this...Probably on Cleopatra. I mean, they've covered everything else  IF we're gonna be pimpin, we'll need our sex packets.

<sigh>

I'm known to dislike most industrial.

But even more than that, I really hate the humpy dance. Could we possibly get less goth? How about "don't worry, be happy" too? Maybe we could also see what's on cotton eyed joe's playlist for the week.

Anybody up for some rod stewart? billy joel? tiffany? michael jackson?

As for me, I think there are places that Sanctus just shouldn't go - and humpty dance is one of them.

I second Lord Vader's comment. :vader:

Ummmmm...I think we were just trying to be humerous...But since you mentioned it...I wouldn't get too harsh about "places Sanctus shouldn't go" when the playlists are posted  .

Sanctus routinely goes places it "shouldn't" go muscially. I'm not bitching (well, maybe just a little), but the idea that Sanctus is totally gothic or industrial or even "dark" is hardly represented by the music played. I for one, would not be surprised in the least to hear the Humpty Dance, Darlin Niki, Dancin With Myself, Call Me, Spirit In The Sky or any number of nongothic, nonindustrial "party songs" at a Sanctus. I think the ads even state retro (read 80's) music.

None of us agree on what is the "best" music out there, but I think all of us agree that Sanctus is a party, and it is nice to get out and just have fun. Besides, requesting a song hardly means it will get played. For the record, I'd like to hear all ambiant, darkwave, experimental, and old school gothic music...But I doubt I'd get my way as much as I doubt others would appreciate hearing it. Sanctus advertises a variety of music and a variety gets played rather we like all of it or not.

OK I'm done! Fire away :D

I'm kind of in the same boat. i absolutely hate _most_ of the modern EBM crap that's been coming out over the past few years. Not all though. I have taken the time to find songs that i really care for and it will be evident at Sanctus.

Oh, and Tommy, although I don't know if I'm even going to play it but I will make sure to have a copy of other Violent Femmes songs out of my collection. ;)

That's about dead on.

For the record though, Bone and I have been talking about stagnation in the music that we have been playing. We really don't want that to ruin the wonderful thing we have all built. That's why I want to beef it up a bit with some different titles.

Huzzah! Gothic and Industrial are very broad genres with so many music styles in, and on the outskirts of each. There is just an amazing amount of music out there to explore, play, and hear without resorting to the same songs and bands getting almost monthly play. I'm all for diversity, even if it all has to be "dance" music.

Finally, I do not mean to sound unappreciative to any of the DJs. You guys put up with a lot of shit to make these nights happen, and you do have my thanks!

haha.....the humpty dance, i love that song. i gave heather a lapdance to it last week :D

since we are trying to steer clear of anything "unsanctus-like" i would like to request anything by britney spears, n sync, and the backstreet boys :-x ..................................just kidding. ;)

on a serious note though.
-jack off jill's cover of lovesong
-scarling's cover of creep
-marilyn manson-apple of sodom

i don't think any of these have been played or requested before, i could be wrong.

I have the same request as last month:

Wicked Game- HIM (cover)

it's a great song, and it doesn't hurt that the lead singer is major eye candy!
