Just out of curiosity... why?

I know I've mentioned that here recently - fairiegirl is aware of and respects it - but I, and many other people, feel that putting a child's picture on the web is just too inviting, particularly when you add a name, a place they'll be, and exactly when they'll be there...
It's one of those big DON"Ts police tell you for child safety, like not writing their name on the outside of their jacket or t-shirt.
In other words, I'm one of those people who wear my seatbelt every time, and make my kids buckle in too, even though I'm not really expecting to have a wreck.

Ok, so no posting pictures of JaNell's brood please.
That came off as a bit snarky, Arkady. I don't publically mock, however mildly, your child rearing choices, and I'd like the same from you. I'm sure that Erin removed the picture as soon as she read it, without the need for anyone making a declaration about it aimed at making me look paranoid. Nice.

i hope you are paranoid. no, really. if a little bit of paranoia may - just may - prevent some faceless psycho from abducting your kid, then i think it's worth a grey hair or two.
often the worst cases of child abductions - serial murder and/or rape and what have you - are perpetrated by the people you least expect. and just as often, by the kind of people you'd never think of commiting such atrocious crimes.
the guy at the deli, or the woman at the pharmacy, or the waitress at that restaurant you often like to take the kids to.
in fact, most victims of serial killing have known their murderers on a first name basis.
so uh, yeah. be a little bit paranoid. keep your kids safe. anyone who sits down and really thinks about this will agree - there's nothing wrong with it.
believe me, it all seems worthwhile when it saves your ass.

faeriegirl wrote:its unfortunate, but the "week day - middle of the day" is pretty hard on parents who work. I can't possibly ever make that time slot either, so I guess you can just tell Lily that Nick loves her.
Ya, I know. The reason that particular day and time was chosen is because Kimmie is just there at that time each week, due to her school schedule. So, I said, "Well, let's just do this every week, then." Maybe we can get something going on the weekend, as well, when it warms up a bit more. Of course, I don't have my baby on most weekends....
Scheduling, blah.

Sadly I think that most of the principals have stopped going, but perhaps it can be restarted with la little effort. Fort Kid is a playground near the Candy factory, KMA, and the 11st expresso House where many of us meet on Friday evenings. Everyone is invoted to the coffee shop and sometime parents bring their children. If you want to bring your kid out to play with some of the other goth offspring, youcould post a thread here in upcoming events saying when was a good time for you and where...I'm sure that if possible a number of people will show up with kids in tow.
