First show me evidence that this will do a hill of beans worth of good against programs like echelon.

its a neat idea, but it won't work. exspecially if your just emailing it. now if you set up a large network spead out over the country and starting transmitting that to each other.. then maybe. but not 1 dinky email.

If this thing is as huge as that website suggests, seems like it would be pretty hard to "crash". If it intercepts billions of signals everyday, what would a few more e-mails do? Plus, I'm kinda sceptical of all-out government conspiracies. If this thing exists, it is probably completely computer-handled. It wouldn't be gov employees spying on individuals, it would be a computer looking for terrorists or some such. I doubt it really interferes with privacy. Have you ever seen it in action? there have been major criminals at large who I'm sure are making phone calls and sending e-mail, and it still took years to find them, if ever. Wouldn't it have prevented Sept. 11th? And I've discussed plenty of gov-unfriendly subjects, but have never had black helicopters hovering over my house or CIA agents busting down my door. Doesn't seem like it doing much. But maybe that's just what they want us to think.

I think that it would work more effectively if, before sending out the email, one word was changed somewhere in the email.

"Sardine" changed to "tuna", for instance.

Add that to the instructions - not suggesting a specific change, or everyone will do the same one. Sending the same list over and over will eventually get ignored as a null. Sending a partial list, or a list with one or two words changed, will be different enough to ping the system.

Also, everyone with a web site adding an unlinked page with that list (one word changed) might bring interesting results - "interesting" meaning, in this case, federal attention...

"The Cipherwar Web site (http://cipherwar.com/echelon) contains a list of 1,700 "trigger words" that it says will draw the attention of the Echelon system. The list of these so-called trigger words ranges from the names and acronyms of government agencies, like CIA, to the names of the most fetid evil in the known universe mogul Bill Gates and Wall Street Journal Technology Correspondent Walter Mossberg."

Awesome...my real name is on there....

I'm already under surveillance...my father has a q clearance. He has worked security for y-12 for 20-something years. He's all terrorist trained and shit and more trained than a street cop. Every so often, the feds come out and ask family and neighbors if he ever talks about work...

oddly enough ive noticed a repitition pattern of the same words over and over in the block.
and it seems considering Echelon has packets in almost every internet transmission on American soil, id say giving it mass keyword hits will just raise its effiecency rating then the government reviews it.

Yeah, my dad works at Y-12 too. Everyone in my family had to get a q clearance because my dad gets drunk and starts telling anyone anything. But the government hates him anyway cuz he got cut at work by some nuclear garbage and now he's dying. He's now suing the government while he's still working for him. I also think that the fact that I grew up next to a chemical dump has something to do with me getting all kinds of cancers. So, if they care enough to read anything I write: they can suck my ass.
