fallen is right. mtv died with the end of the ball
120 minutes was cool too
MTV became public access that had a good show on midnight on sundays for 120 minutes.
then it went downhill and the station just completed its trip into the abyss.....

Mike Judge now there's a fella that forgot his roots.

MTV2 has Headbangers Ball back on but its not hosted by Rickey Rackman so I haven't watched it much.

I hate to admit this, but I've watched a few episodes of this season's Real World, namely because the Asian chick is really hot. I hadn't watched since back in the day with the first season (you know..Norman, Julie, Eric, etc). I have to say, I think Mtv must have gotten progressively more stupid people every season. Yet, some how I've found myself strangely sitting through a whole episode. It makes me wonder if there is any hope for "Generation Y" because these people are absolute fucking morons. I was never that stupid, not even when I was nineteen and clueless. The sad thing is, I see people just like them at the mall day in and day out. And what's up with the whole cutting thing....didn't that go out of style with raves and grunge? How '93 is that? Just another reason to thank the powers that be for making you a freak.

ok temple.
heres the deal
first off, thats not being pushed around..... i placed a suggestion and you blew up grenade style.
second,*LEARN TO TYPE*.i had to read that shit 5 fucking times.
third, i dont have a problem with you. you strike me the kinda guy i could go pound some brews with and then go fucking run at on coming traffic with just to see if they move. i like that.
fourth, none has want it takes to "prove themselves" by typing in useless shit in a forum, again lets have some brews.
five,i quit trying to prove myself as punk after hanging out with merle alliin. i dropped the shit then. eventually you just peak. i dont have toprove shit anymore, its just a part of who i am.i remember when you got your ass kicked for it and it wasnt something hot topic sold you the fucking gear for. kids these days even have a fucking dress code. when i was growing up the dress code was being poor. wtf? my punk record collection is huge as well, and i dont brag about it because its my shit and i dont fucking care what others thing...seems like real old schools know that. its a personal thing.not a fucking badge. so that makes me wonder.
yea the shit thats been around for over 10 years now (minus bad religion and SOME SOME SOME rancid, not much) fucking blows.
gimme fear and a 12 pack anyday.
i dont have a problem with you and i wasnt pushing you around...
i actually give you points for standing up for yourself.
believe me if i was pushing anyone around it would be in person and they would be bleeding. im not very vocal about dislikes, im a hands on kinda guy. why would i push around someone ive never fucking met? i was just posting my opinion.
so i say we get some beers and try to piss on people we dont like.
thats the only way to really get an opinion of someone.
anyone who stands by their claims is ... well often... cool with me. you seem in that boat.
you game?

Cutting oneself is not stupid.

Not understanding that symptoms of mental illness (depression and borderline personality disorder are some that = cutting) come from something greater than a rational choice is freakin moronic. You would think by now people would realize that everyone is made differently and no one lives the same life as everyone else, and that everyone deals with problems in a different way. It is interesting to see how this Bible belt mentality is manifested even here, ie "she deals with her problems in a (common) way that is different than how I deal with mine, so there must be something wrong with her."

How is dealing with pain or a problem by cutting yourself any different than dealing with it by drinking or smoking or eating too much chocolate or spending too much time online or random sex or just ignoring the problem all together? They are all self-destructive coping mechanisms.

No cutting yourself is stupid. Other then the fact that the scarring that it causes is one of the most unattractive thing one can cause the body there is the risk of permanant tussue and muscle damage, serious infection including staph, loss of blood and possibly death. Drinking and smoking may be addictive and they may be destructive but to call them a coping mechanism might be a bit of a streach.

I did not say it was healthy or safe, but a symptom of a mental disorder is not easily controlled if you do not know how.

And of course it is not a stretch to call drinking and smoking coping mechanisms. Duh, you do them to feel better, and that is what a coping mechanism is, plain and simple.

I guess I am fairly well-educated concerning mental illness, and it is frustrating to see people ostricised or misunderstood or ridiculed over something they may not have the tools to control.

Shoot, I messed up the quote box. I just wanted it clear that I am not the one who said that cutting is "stupid."

Thanks, Erynn

Hey, I don't drink away my problems. I deal with that shit sober, that way I can remember my decision. Secondly, I love alcohol. It is not my friend but my enemy. So, I keep him really close ;) It's all about self-control and knowing your limits. Some people do, and others don't. So what?

Well said. That was the point I wsa trying to get to, that some people just don't know what they can handle, and you shouldn't rag on them for that. Could you follow me around all day and condense my ramblings into statements that actually make sense?
