My GothBaby colored her baby brother black and purple,&

OK, I'm fine with my daughter's favorite dress being a long black velvet gown, I even let her older brother wear it out when he wants, and I am fine with the evil glares she gives people and the way she yells "Bahh!" at the old ladies when they say she is cute, and that when I asked her what her favorite carebear was she said "Dark heart" (the villian) , and I could deal with her throwing out her cute little pink bobbletop stocking cap and grabbing a purple witch hat with spiderwebs on it which she wears whenever it rains, and I haven't even said anything since lately she has been drawing huge black or purple circles around her eyes with markers and going to daycare like this, but now she is coloring my youngest baby too!

My question is this: She is not even 3 yet. Is this normal?

I forgot to say that she has absolutley no exposure to anything "Goth", I am more of the rainbows and bubbles type.

I also forgot to mention that when she plays with her little stuffed kittens and her baby dolls, she lines them up in a row on their backs and sits there and says., "Kitty dead. Baby dead. Baby dead, Kitty dead." She buried a toy kitten in my sugar cannister and hid it in the fridge, and when I asked her about it, she just smiled and gave me a really weird laugh.

Is there anything I can do now to assure that she won't be leading a cult of highschoolers to kill her ex-boyfriend when she is 15, or should I just let her be herself? She has been dark since she was an infant.

I've actually considered buying her some Morrisey and some Cure at the used CD store, I want to be a supportive mom, but then I had these visions of the Morrisey fans I have known, and with an uncontrollable shudder put the CDs back on the shelf!

AWWWWWWWw thats so cute....at least she isnt harming the baby!! I mean not all of us dark and brooding types hurt ourselves or other people.....just buy her a copy of the Bell Jar and some black nailpolish....she'll be fine! I thinks its cool, I hope my kid is all smug and dark and likes spiderwebs more than pink...!

Me and my girlfriend had 10 min. laugh over that. That's most likely going to be our kid one day. You seem to be a wonderful mother to not chain her up and hit her with the bible or something like some people. There should be more mother's like you who give their children choices like that. I would say, as long as she knows right from wrong, she should turn out fine. She's also lucky to have a mother who supports who she is, many parents try to look past that, take it as a failure or something. Eh...there goes my two cents. I'm out.

you just gotta realise that anything you give a small child, is going to be played over and over and over. I still wouldn't worry about it.....

I see X has already pointed out the difference between the smiths and the doors. Thank you though, I had a good laugh. :-)

Perhaps your being all "rainbows and bubbles" is the problem... It would scare me. Or simply, velvet is nice and fuzzy, a witch's hat is far more fun than a beanie, and she's at the age where she is learning about death (acting it out with toys) and makeup (attempting eyeliner w/ markers).

What's with the screen name? If you don't want to be mistakingly associated, why are you trusting us with the welfare of your children? Maybe you should ask Dr. Phil instead.

But maybe you should start reading her some good ole fire-and-brimstone bible stories just to be on the safe side... :roll:
